  5. gen-obit This is the email list of the Obituary Daily Times. It is a moderated email list. If you are searching for descendants of a particular family group, this is the exchange group you want. It's easy (and quite addictive!) to do an index of your local paper, and you then have access to newspaper obituaries from across the world. If you become a contributor, you can request a copy of the listed obituary. It's like receiving numerous newspapers a day to shuffle through the obituaries. You can also become a subscriber without contributing, but you don't get the frills. If you want to become a contributor, please visit our website page about being a volunteer: http://sites.rootsweb.com/~obituary/volunteer.html.
  6. gen-benelux What are we doing here: - Discuss genealogy topics that are tied to Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) and former colonies. - Help each other with detailed investigations between Benelux researchers (experience exchange). - Distribution of capture from sources for general interest (e.g. obituaries from local newspapers). What has changed: - The mailing system in back-office at Rootsweb has changed (transparent to you). - The link to Usenet is broken (not provided by Rootsweb anymore) - that means parallel and different conversations take place there without integration and interaction. Sources of information: - Rootsweb information page for Gen-Benelux: https://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/postorius/lists/gen-benelux.rootsweb.com/ - Archive of former emails: https://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/hyperkitty/list/[email protected]/ - Access to Usenet group soc.genealogy.benelux --> e.g. through GoogleGroups at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/soc.genealogy.benelux or new
