Rob, >From what I understand, in the German speaking countries in Europe, the spelling for Zimmermann is always with a double "nn", just like "Neumann", "Amtmann", etc My Zimmermann's are from Minden Westfalen-Lippe area in old Prussia, which is now (or was) West Germany, east of Munster and south of Hannover. I only have info on the one, my ggg grandmother who married Johann Grune (Gurne).
