Ely/Eli Zimmerman was b. abt 1801 Maryland and wife Polly Smith b. abt 1810 Virginia per IN census. They were m. 2 Sep 1823 Fayette Co., OH per Gateway to the West, vol. l. I would like to find out who their parents and sibs were and take it as far back as I can. I have found some info on Maryland families at LDS, but cannot make a connection. I have info on some of their descendants that is not easy to come by, so I will put it here for anyone who may find a connection with their Zimmermans. Children of Ely and Polly include: 1. Isaac b. abt Mar 1827 OH, d. 23 Mar 1875 Black Creek Twp., Mercer Co., OH, bu. Zimmerman Cemetery, Blk. Crk. He m. Jane Warner 14 1849 Adams Co. IN. Their children were 1)Elizabeth, b. abt 1851; 2)Eli C. b. abt 1852, d. 18 Feb 1857, bu. Zimmerman Cem., Blk. Crk.; 3) Ellen J. b. abt 1855; 4) Winfield S. b. abt 1858. I believe they were all b. Black Creek, but some may have been b. Adams Co., IN. Census said they were b. OH. Cemetery records show 3 more children: 5) girl d. 1860; 6) Polly; and boy b. & d. 1860. 2. Hank b. abt 1832 OH 3. Polly b. abt 1834 OH 4. my ancestor, John b. bef 1836 IN - prob. Adams Co., d. bef. 1860 IN or OH. He m. Leah Hartzog 14 Dec 1852 Willshire Co., Van Wert Co., OH (it is the county just no. of Mercer Co.) They had two children bef. he died and she m. 2nd Henry Banta: 1) Jesse G. or B. Zimmerman b. 21 Sep 1853 IN or OH, d. 10 Jan 1930 Aurora, IL who m. Annetta Meek, dtr. of Alexander Meek and Melinda Houlette on 23 Mar 1873-1878; and 2) Mary (Molly) Zimmerman. If you know who m.
