Feel free to contact Yvonne James-Henderson, > list administrator with questions concerning this list! > mailto:[email protected] Dear Mindy, I suspect that your Samuel J. Zimmerman of Bollinger Co., Mo. is descended from a Zimmerman family of NC. I traced the Carpenters who were originally Zimmerman but changed their names. In the process I also traced other Carpenters and Zimmermans who might also be related. I believe that your family is certainly not related to mine and have only done some research on them. I suspect that your Samuel J. is a descendant of a Michael Zimmerman who died in NC about 1825. At that time his descendants disposed of some of his land in Lincoln Co., NC. His heirs were listed as David, John,m Jacob, Ann, Elizabeth Sr. [probably his wife], Elizabeth Jr., and Michael. All were listed as residing in Burke County, NC at the time of the deed. This elder Michael is a son of Michael Zimmerman and wife Elizabeth, who re-married to John Killian. This Michael Zimmerman was deceased by 1785 in Montgomery Co, Pa. when his son Michael Jr. of "Linkhorn County, Carolina" sold some of his land. Michael and George Zimmerman were in Mulford Twp., Montgomery Co., Pa. as early as 1741. Of course we do not have the connection between these older lines and your Samuel J. Zimmerman. I know no more than what I have told you. I suggest you contact Lorena Eaker. She is a prominent researcher of the Bollinger and Cape Girardeau County area of Missouri. Try one of these e-mail addresses: [email protected] [email protected] She currently lives in Church Hill, Tennessee. If you cannot get through using one of the e-mail addresses let me know and I will contact her for you. Good luck. Robert Carpenter
