On Dec. 19, 1886, my grandparents, Samuel Skivington and Rebecca (Kennedy) Skivington gave birth to their third child, a girl. They named her Helen Zimmerman Skivington. Zimmerman seems like an unusual middle name to bestow on a girl child, and since there are no relatives older than myself to ask, I am trying to find out what the connection might be. It might have been to honor the doctor who delivered her, or a special family friend??? This took place in Shenandoah or Gilberton, PA . That's my story, and again, I'm sorry I can't be of any assistance to you. Best regards, and good hunting, Bill Skivington > > > > >
