From 1947-1950, he owned and operated TehClearwater News in Clearwater, Kansas In WWII, he joined the US Army as a second lieutenant and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. He assisted in the planning of Operation Overlord, the Allied nvasion to liberate Europe form Hitler. His list of civilian accompplsihments are too numerous to mention here. Survived by wifeShirley,daughter Jan Dawson and husband Bob; sisters Dorrie Fegraeus and her husband Harold; stepson, Van Cearley' stepdaughter, DJ Cearley and husband Carl Wiruscheske; grandchildren, Julie Gerrow, Kate Dawson, Jennifer Ceraley, Jared Cearley, Garrett and Hunter Wiruscheske. Predecased by firs wife Reba Corbett Zimmerman in 1980; sister Mary Ruth Beal and two brothers Leland and Billy Zimmerman. Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 452-8811.
