I am looking for the parents of H. W. Zimmerman. He was listed in the 1880 Freemont, Fayette, Iowa census. There it listed his parents as being from PA. no other location noted. H. W.'s son Samuel Zimmerman was my Gfather. H. W. Zimmerman was born abt. 1813. PA. glfetzer@msn.com

I believe H.W. Zimmerman was my G-Grandfathers uncle. My Grandfather was Samuel C. Beck and he and his family lived next door to the H.W. Zimmermans in Freemont. I have Samuel's civil war files and in them there are affidavits signed by H.W. Zimmerman and his brother Robert Zimmerman of Illinois. Samuel mentions in a letter that Robert Zimmerman was his uncle and I believe H.W. Zimmerman was also. If you are interested, please let me know. Lois: It would help me if you could supply me with the sir name of your GGrandfather as it might help me identify the parents of H. W. Zimmenman. The fact that you have info related to H. W. and his brother is another clue to the parents of H.
