He married Phebe Pursley around 1846. They had 3 children: Charles, John and Elizabeth. John was my great great grandfather. He and his brother Charles married sisters, Nettie and Eliza Nitzel respectively. The children of Charles and Eliza were Frank, George and Theodore Zimmerman. My great great grandfather's children were Charles H., Walter Herman and Frederick. My grandfather was Walter Herman Zimmerman b. 1873 in Freedom or Earlville IL. Are you the Paul who was trying to determine if any of the Zimmerman's were of Jewish ancestry? I, too, am looking in that direction. Are you related to these Zimmermans?
