Surnames: Zimmerman Cartwright Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZJYBAEB/751.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi! I'm sister to Frieda Tata that you have been corresponding with on this posting. I live in Bloomfield, Mo, which is the county seat for Stoddard County. In fact, I visited the courthouse today and found my grandfather's (Zona Zimmerman) marriage license. He married Mary C. Cook 12/21/01. He died here in 1957...so he was a long-time resident of Stoddard County. May I add some tidbits for your interest??? I have also seen the Guardianship records on-line that mention my grandfather as guardian in the case of Cartwright family. I'm very curious how that came about. Local people tell me that a Cartwright family owned a grocery store in a small town 3 miles north of us called Acquilla. Not sure of the time period they owned the store. My grandfather lived in this area for many years and was known by many, many people. As a matter of fact, he was a familiar face at the courthouse and personally knew a lot of the lawyers and judges and did some "politicking" in this area. He warmed the 'liar's bench' in front of the courthouse on many an afternoon in his later years. Not quite sure how he was connected to all that, but feel that it may have had a bearing on why he was named guardian to this family.

I couldn't resist picking this up because a full name was on the back and hoping that someone will be reconnected to an ancestor. Picture is of an older woman in a high collared dress. She looks to be maybe 60 or thereabouts (maybe older). If this might be a connection for you please e-mail me so we can see about returning Lucy Zimmerman Harter to her family. Thanks. Sheila
