My Abraham was in Ohio in Pike Co. in 1900.His 2nd wife, Rebecca Boldman was widowed in 1910 in Pike Co., OH so he must have died between 1900-1910. 2. This Abraham Zimmerman's parents were born in Pennsylvania. They still could have all been related somehow. Maybe a Virginia Zimmerman, on their way to Ohio, spit out a kid or two in Pennsylvania. Who knows. I'm pretty certain my Abraham's mother's name was Jane and he also had a brother Benjamin F. and a sister Susannah.

(Although this is a Pickaway County newspaper, Abraham actually died in Fayette County, Ohio.) "Abraham Zimmerman died near Cook, Friday, July 6, after several months illness. Deceased was born near Piketon, Ohio, December 25, 1837, the son of Henry and Sarah Zimmerman. He was a veteran in the civil war, having served three years in company C, First Ohio Heavy Artillery. He leaves two sons and two daughters. One son is Benj. Zimmerman of Martin's Ferry, Ohio. The funeral services were held at Madison Mills Methodist Episcopal church; interment in the cemetery at that place."

Sarah Daniels was his first wife. She died bef. 1884, the date he married his 2nd wife Rebecca T. Boldman. Abraham died between 1900 (appeared with wife Rebecca in census) and 1910 (Rebecca appeared as widowed in census). In 1900 they were located in Pike, Scioto Township and in 1910 his widow was still in Pike, Scioto Township. So one would assume he died in Pike, Scioto Township. His age is a good question. From census to census, it was never consistent. In 1860 it stated he was 33 (1827 birth), In 1870 it stated he was 45 (1825 birth). In 1900 it stated June 1930, age 69 and all his census' stated born in Ohio.

Does anyone know where and when Abraham and Sally died? In one of the old death record books from the Pike County, Ohio Probate office there was listed: Abraham Zimmerman, died 17 December 1908, 86 years, 8 months, 22 days in Jackson Township, Pike County, Ohio. His residence was listed as Richmondale. (This is a little place in Ross County, Ohio, the next county north of Pike.) Place of birth was listed as Pennsylvania. Cause of death was old age. The death was reported by W. L. Reisinger. (No parents listed.) I think this was one of the last deaths in the book. The state of Ohio switched around Dec. 8, 1908, I believe, to having the Department of Health keep the death certificates, instead of Probate Court. Once that happened, the parents were listed on the certificates, but they usually were not in the death ledger books kept in probate courts.

Zimmerman who is in the household of Henry Zimmerman in the 1850 Pike County, Ohio census is the William H. Zimmerman who married Sarah Pry, although I have never found a document that directly states that Henry was the father of William, such as a death certificate. (William died ca 1878). Henry Zimmerman married Sally (Sarah) Curtis in Greenbrier County, (West) Virginia on 12 January, 1819. He married his second wife, Mary Chew, in Pike County, Ohio on 6 April 1848. Following is what happened to three of the children listed in the Henry Zimmerman household in 1850: Joseph Cook Zimmerman's obituary from Wayne County, Iowa, states that "Joseph C. Zimmerman born Nov. 25, 1843 in Pike county, Ohio, son of Henry and Sarah Zimmerman, was one of eleven children. After the death of his mother when he was but a child, he came to Iowa with an older brother and settled near Seymour, Iowa." Joseph died 19 February, 1935. David Tharp Zimmerman's obituary from Wayne County, Iowa, says "David Tharp Zimmerman was born in Pike County, Ohio, January 22, 1842, and passed away at his home in Seymour, December 2, 1924...". "When he was about 12 years of age he came with his parents to Louisa County, Iowa. 3 years later the family moved to Wayne County." (So Henry and his second wife Mary (Chew) probably died in Louisa or Wayne County, Iowa.) Abraham Baker Zimmerman's death certificate states that his parents were Henry and Sarah (Curtis) Zimmerman. Abraham died 6 July 1917 in Fayette County, Ohio. The other household that had a William Zimmerman about the same age was Jacob Zimmerman. Jacob Zimmerman married Susannah Cook in Greenbrier County, (West) Virginia 29 December 1831. This family moved to Harrison County, Missouri. William married Lucinda Samples, and died there in 1882. John and Margaret Zimmerman, both age 45 in the 1850 Pike County, Ohio census, were also married in Greenbrier County, (West) Virginia, on 21 June 1833. Her maiden name was also Cook.

In some census' he appeared as James C. and others Corbett J. In 1920 Census he was married to a Mary E. but that "E" could have been for Elizabeth and they had a son Arthur who was 3 1/2 in 1920. Frank also had son's Orris and Dewey and without it in front of me right now, I can only say I THINK Dewey had a son Dewey.
