    3. Hi All.... I have belonged to the mailing list for quite a while but have had little to offer anyone, with regret. I guess my problem is that my Zimmerman's lived in Canada since the 1740's leaving New Jersey. I'm having trouble finding any relatives in the States to continue my search from that point. I would really like to hear from anyone with Zimmermans in Canada (mine are in Southern Ontario). Maybe we can exchange information to help us both out.... Some common names in my line are: Peter, Mathius, James Dawdy and Adam Zimmerman (to name a few) Thanks a bunch... Judy.

UT 84605, Volume I. He does not trace your line as you stated it but does trace Niclaus Zimmerman, b. 1575 in Steffisburg and some of is children and descendants. I think he has my line which went to Markirch, Alsace, France before 1700. I suggest that you contact the author and see if he has information about your family. Glad to help. Robert Carpenter

Box 6798 Frazier Park, CA 93222 Ms. Howery, I see you are still pursuing the ancestry of Mathias Zimmerman. You may remember me; I am Robert Carpenter author of Carpenters A Plenty which traced Zimmermans/Carpenters in the Gaston-Lincoln County area of NC. I also researched your Mathias and corresponded with you some years ago trying to determine whether there was any connection between our families. I have acquired some new information. One researcher says our line starts in Steffisburg, Kanton of Berne, Switzerland. They moved to Markirch, Alsace, France, and then to America in 1732. I still have not found the connecting generations and much of the material is speculation. I wish you luck in your search. If you ever find your line, let me know. Robert Carpenter

    3. Hi All, I don't know if anyone on this list is researching any Zimmerman from Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, but I thought I would write just in case. I am currently uploading the history of Sheboygan County to the Genweb page. Last night I uploaded several files that pertained to information about an F. Zimmerman that would have been in Sheboygan County prior to 1880. If you are researching anyone like that, I suggest you go to the Genweb site, use the search engine in the middle of the page and do a search for Zimmerman, it should take you to the files where the information is. This is not detailed family nor does it list anything further than F. Zimmerman, but it does tell what role he played in certain areas in Sheboygan County prior to 1880. I found it to be very interesting reading it while transcribing the data.
