I suspect that your Samuel J. is a descendant of a Michael Zimmerman who died in NC about 1825. At that time his descendants disposed of some of his land in Lincoln Co., NC. His heirs were listed as David, John,m Jacob, Ann, Elizabeth Sr. [probably his wife], Elizabeth Jr., and Michael. All were listed as residing in Burke County, NC at the time of the deed. This Michael Zimmerman was deceased by 1785 in Montgomery Co, Pa. when his son Michael Jr. of "Linkhorn County, Carolina" sold some of his land. I am new to this list. I am searching for info about my gggf Baltus UNSEL(L) and my gggm Catherine ZIMMERMAN. They lived in Utica, NY between 1855 and 1860. We don't know where they lived before. We know nothing of Baltus' history or place or date of birth. Catherine was born in 1818 in Baden, Germany. We know she had two sisters-Mary ZIMMERMAN BECK and Rosa ZIMMERMAN SCHREIGLER and we think a brother Matthew who "moved west". She supposedly arrived in America (? port of entry) in 1853. Can anyone help us with info about Catherine ZIMMERMAN? If we can find where Catherine lived before here marriage we can possibly trace both gggrandparents.
