Where was he from? When did he live and die? I have a Christian Z. in my records (actually a few of them). My Zimmermans changed their names to Carpenter. They lived in present Lincoln Co. area of NC. They also moved westward and some went to Kentucky fairly early. Robert Carpenter

    3. Karen: I have a John (Johannes) Zimmerman, b. 9/Jun/1810. bpt. 12/Aug/1810 at Zion Church, Carroll Co. MD. He was the son of Christian Zimmerman and wife Ann Christianna. Baptismal sponsors were George and Barbara Schneider. I have been unable to locate him after the birth/baptism records except that I have his wife shown as Lucinda. I also have a David Zimmerman, b. abt 1833, birthplace either PA or MD, who disappeared from the Fulton Co. IL census after 1850. The 1870 census did not show him. The story was that he simply "vanished." I am basing his approximate birth year on the 1850 census which showed him to be 17 and a farmer. He was living with George and Mary Ann (Cooper) Zimmerman which could make him their son, however, no records have been found to indicate a parental relationship. George & Mary Ann were my great-grandparents. They migrated to Fulton Co. IL after 1843. Do you have birthdates for John and David ? Thanks, Joan [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Karen Vandegriff <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, August 18, 1999 12:40 PM Subject: [ZIMMERMAN-L] Zimmermans - Iowa >I am interested in Zimmerman's in Wayne County, Iowa, such as John and >Lucinda Z, David Z., & Joseph Z (and their families). 3. Hi, I'm new to this list so forgive me for not giving too much information. My relatives were in Sheffield, Iowa and Mason city. I have lost total contact with any of these people so it makes it really difficult to find anyone that I am looking for. The only thing I have is an old newspaper clipping with a family reunion held in l918. According to the article the reunion was held in the Zimmerman "forty" in the area known as "Barkers Woods." It says that many church and family reunions were held here, now occupied by the Louis Kammrad family. Has anyone ever heard of this place? Other names metioned are as follows, Maria Piegel Zimmrerman, and her five sons Jake,Gus,George,Ad,and Orin. Gus Zimmerman, Mary Zimmerman Inman,Cynthia Zimmerman Wilde,Leila Zimmerman Brotchie,(George Zimmerman), grandfather of( Jack Zimmerman),present editor of the Sheffield "Press". If anyone has any information regarding any of these people I would like to hear from them. Thankyou for your help. Sincerely, Linda Chorpening

    3. I have been going through some of the archived messages and came across one from Ellen Hazen posted in jul 1997 requesting some information on Henry & Samuel Zimmerman in SC. I have some info on a John H Zimmerman born in NC in 1816 who was a minister and preached at several Methodist churches in the Abbeville SC area. One of his children Albert born in 1844 and died in 1866 is buried in Sharon Methodist Church Cemetery in Abbeville Co, between Abbeville and Calhoun Falls. If Ellen is still part of this list please contact me privately and I can give you the information that I have. This group did not fit in with the Timmerman's and Zimmerman's of SC that came into Charleston in 1764 from London as part of the Poor Palatines that were duped by a German Count and left stranded in London.
