Just recently a cousin found me via the Internet and I'm just thrilled to have someone to discuss with the BOUHL and ZIEGLER family histories. There seems to be a question as to if the surnames are French or German. I've always assumed German. My great-grandparents were married in 1880 in Geblingen, Germany. I have what I believe to be their original marriage document. It states he (BOUHL) was born in Happelkinger in 1855 and she (ZIEGLER) was born in 1857 in Geblingen. I have her memorial prayer card and it states she was born in Gueblange, France. My newly-found cousin's father told her that at the time our great-grandparents were born the French and German border were jumping back & forth. Has anyone else run into a similar mystery as to the origin of a surname being German or French and which country an ancestor was born in? -Mary **************************************************** Mlfuller@aol.com (Mary Lynn Fuller) http://members.aol.com/mlfuller/index.html Families Touched By Adoption http://members.aol.com/FamAdop/index.html
