The first Brethren Elder of the Beaver Creek OH Church, was a Jacob Sigler. He arrived there from Clermont Co OH in 1818. He is found with a son, Mark. The Pastor of the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren asked me if I knew anything about him. I am pastor of the Stonelick Church of the Brethren, a meetinghouse of the Obannon Church, 1795, Goshen OH, Clermont Co. Our church records are lost in a house fire, and I am attempting to reconstruct the history of the Brethren in early Clermont Co. I have nothing on him. Hello, I have run into two lines of Ziegler one spelled as above and some spelled with the ie. I guess like all the others they are from same but just went different ways and ended up with different spellings. One is John Zeagler born Orangeburg County SC ca 1778 and married Sara Lavica or spelled various ways. Had daughter Nancy that married a John Valentine and came to MS and then on to LA. (Another daughter (Caroline) married another Valentine son, Levi, also. The other line is Zachariah Zeagler and born 19 Aug 1776 a son of Michael Jr. married to a Sarah Baggott. Is this the same line both sons of Michael in Orangeburg SC they both ended up in MS and LA. This Zachariah had daughter Martha Ann married Robert Henry Johnson 1846 in LA. Any help straighting this out will be appreciated. It is on two different sides of the family and makes an interesting connection years later. Researching the ZIEGLER family from Alsace (villages are Mittelwihr and Hunawihr. The earliest ZIEGLER I have is Wulff who died in possibly in Buch, Franken (Germany) where is son Paul was born ca 1603. Paul married Magdalena ENDERLIN in Hunawihr on 20 July 1630. Other given ZEIGLER names are Andreas, Johnn Christian and Maria Barbara who was born on 7 Oct 1735 in Mittelwihr and who married Johannes SIEGENTHALER on 11 Feb 1766 in Hunawihr. Just recently a cousin found me via the Internet and I'm just thrilled to have someone to discuss with the BOUHL and ZIEGLER family histories. There seems to be a question as to if the surnames are French or German. I've always assumed German. My great-grandparents were married in 1880 in Geblingen, Germany. I have what I believe to be their original marriage document. It states he (BOUHL) was born in Happelkinger in 1855 and she (ZIEGLER) was born in 1857 in Geblingen. I have her memorial prayer card and it states she was born in Gueblange, France. My newly-found cousin's father told her that at the time our great-grandparents were born the French and German border were jumping back & forth.
