    1. [YOUNGER] Attn: Robert Younger
    2. I forgot to respond to one other piece of information in your question. I don't think that the Alexander Younger in Maryland 1675 is the same man as Alexander of Essex County 1699. There are several court entries in Essex Co records 1699-1707 regarding Alexander Younger and the headright issued for his importation as a servant. He is first mentioned by Edward Rowzee in 1699 as 18 years old. These headright certificates for land were as good as cash and were sold, traded, and spent as cash. It appears that in 1707 Alexander had received his own headright and then sold it (he had now finished his period of servitude, thus in essence paid his transportation and was now due his own headright from the crown). Perhaps he didn't like the land that was available in Essex Co - poor pickings by now, needed money, or had already contracted to buy or rent some land. Affidavit with proof was made to the court that a person was due a headright. This information was sent to the secretary of the colony who issued the headright certificate Sometimes the owners of these headrights registered the certificates for insurance. However, like everything else, there was a charge for registering a document, and many documents were never registered because of this. Pat Finnell
