Betty - You and others might be interested in another version of the history of Abbots Creek Church. Copy of a two page typescript was sent to me a number of years ago, author unknown. Seems to be a history of the founding and development of the church and describes the record book "now in the possession of June Moore, the clerk of the church." The point of my sending this version is that it says "...joyful day in 1753...welcomed into their midst James Younger, the Baptist Preacher and wife Anna, and little daughter Anna, from the Welch Neck Settlement in SC." I did do a small amount of research on the Welch Neck Settlement, SC and found that it consisted of Baptist who came from Delaware (PA) after 1736. Welch was the language in use in the church. There are land records of Youngers in the Welch Tract SC. The "South Carolina Baptists" chapter on Peedee Churches gives a detailed history of the churches and lists many of the early members who removed from PA and those who also some of those that constituted membership 1759-1804. The name Younger does not appear. I have not followed this James Younger further as he is collateral at best. I believe it would take some work to prove connection between the Abbotts Creek James and the Craven Co SC James and a whole lot more work to prove or disprove that he/they were James, son of Alexander and Rebecca (Mills) Younger.
