THE AUGUST ELECTION, 1834. The general election of this year was held August 4. A total of 503 votes was cast, of which Campbell township threw 185. The election lasted two days, and the following is an abstract of the returns: Senator.— Joseph Weaver, 373; James Campbell, 66; John Duncan, 64. Representative.— John D. Shannon, 399 ; Thatcher Vivion, 93. Sheriff. — Benj. U. Goodrich, 198; Frank Leeper, 178 ; Wm. Townsend, 67; P. L. Smith, 43. County Justices.—James Dollison, 339 ; Alex. Younger, 330; Benj. Chapman, 168; Samuel Martin, 145; Littleberry Hendrick, 125; Larkin Payne, 115. Coroner.— John Robards, 29.
