In my new book, Colonial Families of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Vol. 21, I came across an entry from the Kent County Criminal Records DD#!:117A. This Thomas Younger(according to the book) is described as the son of the second John Younger m. Mary(last name not Known). I take this John to be the son of John Younger/Sara Kennard. On 10 Nov 1769 Thomas Younger, KE Co, planter was charged with committing fornication with Mary Dunkan and begot a base born(illegitimate) child. He was fined 30 sh. and ordered to give security to keep the county from any charge of his bastard child named Alexander. On 17 Aug 1772 the estate of John Younger ,KE Co., dec'd, was admin. by Joseph Younger (exec.) and among those paid was"John Bolton as special bail of Thomas Younger per said Bail" Does anyone know if that child would have been named Alexander Younger or did they take the name of their mother back then?
