Yes, Brownie, you're right, BUT, I have seen it both ways, even in that time. In two different cases, the male offspring used both names interchangeably and nearly drove me nuts. In one case, he was the son of a wealthy man who acknowledged him in his will. The other case is our Younger/Gordon person in Halifax Co. So does anyone find a stray Alexander Younger of this time, or an Alexander Dunkan (Duncan probably too)?
