I have the following data on Gilbert Younger and I do believe he is the son of Humphrey Younger, Jr. from the following: !WILL: (See Humphrey Younger (Sr) June 1740 Bequeathed to Humphrey Younger, Jr, from his father, Humphrey Younger, Sr "land whereon I now live between the Branch and the road to Aaron Alford's plantation" and after the decease of Humphrey,Jr to descend to Humphrey ,Jr's son, Henry. Since Henry predeceased his father, Gilbert, the next oldest son inherited his father's legacy from his grandfather. !DEED: Kent County MD Liber IS:409 7 November 1753 Humphrey Younger,Jr., shoemaker, and wife, Mary, sold to John Kennard, farmer, for 40 pounds current money of the Province, a tract of land known as "Sole", formerly owned by Robert Randall "bounded by a" large road that leads from XXXX Hill to Chestertown" to Aaron Alford's land (84 acres) Recorded to John Kennard 19 March 1754 !MILITARY; In Capt J. Beall's Company 9 Oct 1757-14 Sep 1758 Reported killed !DEED: Kent County MD Book 2:204-5 Chestertown Courthouse 19 Feb 1766 Indenture between Gilbert Younger, Kent County MD, Yeoman, son and heir of Humphrey Younger (Jr) late of Kent County MD, and brother and heir also of Henry Younger devisee of Humphrey Younger (Jr) of the one part and John Kennard, son of Nathaniel Kennard of the same place, planter, of the other part, witnesseth that Humphrey Younger (Sr) devised the "Sole" whereon he dwelt between the Branch and the main road that leads from Aaron Alford's to Chester Town to his son, Humphrey Younger (Jr) and after his decease to son, Henry, and his heirs forever - whereas Humphrey Younger (Jr) the devisee aforesaid for life sold part on 24 November 1750 to John Kennard (40 acres) and whereas a certain Richard Lloyd for himself and company attached the residue. Henry Younger died without issue and the land descended to Gilbert Younger his next brother and heir at law. One of the signers was Gilbert Younger In 1712 in spite of considerable opposition the county seat was removed across the river to Joppa, which is in the present bounds of Harford County MD. On the 20th of April 1725 21 acres were laid off - one for the use of St John's Parish Church for the use of the town. In 1731 the Legislature suspended the sitting of the court at Joppa on account of the prevalence of small pox there.
