    3. Wilma, there was a MOSS family in Cumberland County as reflected in the Vestry Book of Southam Parish which came into being January 1, 1745. The original St James Parish had the same boundary as Goochland County, formed in 1728 from Henrico County. Southam Parish was the part of St James which was on the south side of the James River. In 1749 these residents wanted a separate county, so Cumberland County was formed and included all of Southam Parish and part of King William Parish. The Vestry Book of Southam Parish contains records of parish from 1745 to 1792. The MOSS family in the index includes the earliest listing for William Sr. as well as Alexander, James, John, Thomas, William. There are also WILLIAMSON listings: George (earliest) Jacob, Mary, Richard, Robert. There are WOMACK listings: Abraham,Sr., Abraham Jr, Nathan, Richard, W., and William. Example item: July 27, 1747: Ordered that Alexander MOSS, Abraham WAMACK Junr and John ALEXANDER on the 2d of November begin at Deep Creek Bridge down the Creek to the River up the River to Muddy Creek up the Creek to the Bridge and down the Main Road to the beginning do procession the several Lands and renew and mark the respective lines and make return to the Vestry by the last of March of Every person's Land.... From _Vestry Book of Southam Parish, Cumberland and Powhatan Counties, Virginia 1745-1792_ by Ann K. Blomquist. Westminster, Maryland: Willow Bend Books, 2002. I hope this will be helpful. My Edward HENDERSON of Halifax who married Lydia [MOORE?] came from Cumberland County. There were MOORE families in Cumberland County, but so far I have been unable to connect them to Lydia. 3. At this point, I don't know how much help this will be, however, I appreciate it and will store it away and save for future use. Thanks you. 3. It would be nice if there was someone from that line to DNA test. 3. I've only traced them to 1900 so far, if it looks like I will be able to trace them further, will let you know. Wilma ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roberta J.
