    1. [YOUNGER] John Henry Wilson Younger

    3. To clarify - so that no one will be confused - or feel obligated to defend themselves against my (Willie Hillman) comments which are as follows: Halifax County VA Deed Book 29, p. 485 22 July 1820 I, Polly Younger, Halifax County, in consideration of the natural love and affection I have for my son, John Henry Wilson Younger, I so convey and make over one piece of same for Mrs. Huddleston's lifetime, also one bed, one cow, four yearlings, a dozen pewter plates, one powder dish, etc. - and anything that may be coming to me from William Sydnor as administrator of Williamson Younger's estate, if any. Also anything that my father's deed does not call for, I by these presents do warrant and convey the same property for the use of the above mentioned John Henry Wilson, his heirs and assigns forever free from the claims of any person or persons. The condition of the above obligation is that if the above John Henry Wilson should die without heirs, then the same property shall go to my friend, Milton Cage, the father of the above John Henry Wilson Younger. Witnesses: Joseph H. Fuqua, John Cage, Dudley Glass, Winifred Fuqua. I have no desire to make Brownie angry nor do I have any vested interest in the outcome of this discussion. It is my interpretation of the above that a man named Cage (if there was a typographical error) is the father of John Henry Wilson Younger. All I am asking is concrete documentation rather than hypotheses for his parentage. I can not accept family legends for his relationship - whatever it may be. Until I see something concrete it will remain my interpretation. When that is produced I will happily make any necessary changes to my data. Please, can we not have a civil dialogue based only on documentation? That's what we are supposed to be about - clarification and refinement of the data.
