    3. The William, who married Patience[surname?], who received Thomas's carpenter's tools in Thomas's will, is the only "documented" son of Thomas. And Thomas named only one William in his will. So... where did William, who married Mary Watkins come from, and who were his parents?

    3. Brownie- After I wrote this I found something interesting: 1820 YOUNGER PATIENCE Halifax County VA 065 Maresville Federal Population Schedule VA 1820 Federal Census Index VAS2a1414600 I have had these two Williams on my *to find* list also. When you look at them it almost seems that Thomas did indeed name two sons William. But, unless one preceeded him in death, would he not have named both in his Will? If he had two Williams, then in his Will he would have stipulated "which" William he was referring to. However, one died in 1803 and the other in 1805. I have the following on the William who married Patience. Please advise if any errors here. Thanks: -1785 VA Heads of families William Younger 7 white souls, 1 dwelling, 5 buildings (1) William; (2) Patience; (3) Elizabeth (4) Sarah (5) Rachel (6) Keziah (7) possible a mo-in-law etc. His daughters were born and married in Halifax county. Elizabeth was 89 years (b 1761) old in the 1850 census, a widow. When she married her father William gave consent (1792) to marry Aaron Boyd. His dau Sarah marries a John Thomas. This may be irrevelant, but last night I came across a Younger Thomas, who might be a descendant. But I never gave it a thought until just now. This couple dies in Iredell, Nc. Rachel, I believe was unmarried. Keziah marries John Ellis Bentley 1793 Halifax, Va [VA Marriage Index]. They reside and die in Henderson Ky. [1810-1820-1830 censuses] -Signed Will: 27Dec1783, Halifax, Va, Usa; Probate: 15 Jul 1803, Halifax, Va, Usa. Will of William Younger, wife Patience, whole estate during her widowhood. At her death estate to be divided equally to his children: Rachel, Leah, Keziah, Betty, Sally. If any of them married, his widow could give them anything she liked. If she married, two thirds of the estate was to be taken from her and divided among the daughters named. Executors: Patience Younger and James Blackwell - granted probate in due form. Securities and bondsmen: Philemon Carlton and John Younger. Blackwell refused to serve. Philmon Carlton and John Younger appointed. [Halifax Co. WB 6, Pg.258.] Big clue here: John Younger was named. Who was he? Thomas the "joiner" had no sons John and William did not have a son John. Who were Blackwell and Carlton? Now I have a question. A while back, when I started on this Va bunch of Youngers I was sent info that Thomas "the joiner" m1 abt 1730 Mary Northern and had William (who m Molly Watkins) b 1746; and Manny, both b Halifax. Thomas then m2 1750 Sarah Ferguson. Any ideas where these names came from? If Thomas only married once he waited until he was almost 50 to do so, unless I have his birth date incorrect. But Alexander does name Thomas as first mentioned son, which "usually" but not always, named them in birth order.
