I find this reference to Elizabeth Lee very interesting. The DAR and the pension authorities would have only what was given to them by either the widow or a subsequent descendant seeking admission to the DAR. I suspect this report is a copy of the DAR application from a descendant long after the fact and not from the official pension papers. If it were from Catherine Yoter Younger's pension application, I would almost be ready to throw down the gauntlet -but the DAR - Nah---- I have a copy of Catherine's pension application and there is no mention of Elizabeth Lee in it. One more thing. When the DAR authenticates a descendancy, it deals only with the direct line. It asks for siblings or children (I do not remember which) but there is no attempt to authenticate that information. It is caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). Upon what authority do I speak? I have been a member since 1977, Regent of Cincinnati Chapter 1982 and 1983, delegate to Continental Congress in Washington twice and submitted six successful applications - but not without a lot of work and proof. That's how I know what they document. Actually, in the beginning of the DAR, they didn't authenticate the lines that were submitted and after a number of years those lines were challenged by family members and their own documentation. Now, if someone attempts to go in on one of those early lines, they are told that they can not go in on someone else's number but will have to document their line. They are trying to clean up their earlier error. It sometimes takes as much as 2-3 years to get a new line through their audit process.
