Wilma H.- I know you have the actual records. The DAR was/is having a free online lookup, so I thought I would punch-in Joshua to see what their response would be and this was the result, nothing more, nothing less. I understand that we still need to find out about Elizabeth Lee. I suppose my real query here is the fact that I have complete dates on her birth and death. They had to come from somewhere and that is what puzzles me so. Did someone just simply make them up? You can see where I am confused... On another note, while looking at TREES I find that one patron listed her name as Virginia Lee, not that that means anything in particular either. I think having the DAR site available for researchers is a wonderful boon. We should all make use of them. I was just offering a little caveat for caution. We still need to do our own authenticating. I've grown suspicious also of dates not documented. How many times have we been tempted to drop the ca or abt at a birth or death date? More often than I like to admit. I don't think it is malicious. I think it is human. We all want to fill in all the spaces. I have sat and calculated birth dates from the first appearance on tax records. I know that is an accepted method of dating births but is it accurate? I don't know- but I use them. I also know that when you get a date from a census record, it is just as likely to de discounted by the succeeding census record. I think we all do the best we can but, remember, there might have been a ca or an abt at one time before a date fell into our hands. As for Virginia instead of Elizabeth Lee? One name is as good as another to me. I'm not ready to accept either of them. JYG wrote: > Wilma H.- > > I know you have the actual records.
