See below:} Halifax County VA Court Order Book 7, p. 474 27 June 1808 The within written account of Stephen Huddleston (Editorial note: second husband of Mary Watkins Younger) in right of his wife, Mary, late Mary Younger, guardian of Cathy, John, Josephus Younger as returned by the commissioners appointed to settle the same by the court. Stephen Huddleston due to each orphan: Cathy 95.8.9 John 97.12.6 Josephus 88.7.10 In 1809 Stephen Huddleston was no longer the guardian of Cathy John and Josephus Halifax County VA Order Book 8, p 42 Armistead Younger is the guardian of Cathy, John, and Josephus Younger. This is the Armistead which seemed too young to me to be guardian if he was the son of William and Mary By 1818 Cathy and John no long appear as "orphans". Sarah is deceased. Williamson is the guardian of Josephus and is responsible for cash from Sarah's estate, cash from the Watkins estate, cash from rent of land and Cash from former guardian (Fielding Bomar 1815) All of the above is presented here to demonstrate which William Younger we are following. In 1841 there was a settling of estate accounts which was a mixture of funds from Williamson, William and Thomas. It is as follows: Halifax County VA Minute Book 9, pps. 186, 189, 191, 193, 221, 223, 225 August Court 1841 Court ordered William Sydnor, Administrator of Williamson Younger, dec'd $383.77 (already paid $99 by Giles McGraw to pay Josephus Younger $264.82 [editorial note: son of Williamson] also Giles McGraw to pay Josephus Younger [an additional] $50.24. Elizabeth Bomar [editorial note: William's daughter] $200.27 (Armistead Bomar having been paid $500 in his lifetime). To pay William Younger, Williamson Younger and Thomas P. Anderson [editorial note: husband of Elizabeth Younger, Williamson's daughter], administrators of James Younger, dec'd. who were the children of Williamson Younger, dec'd. $4,350. Armistead Younger and John Younger, children of Williamson Younger having been paid their portion of the proceeds of the land that he (Sydnor) retain as the sons of THOMAS YOUNGER, dec'd the sum of $40.57. [Pay to the sd administrator of John Younger, dec'd the sum of $161.26. James McGraw the former administrator of Thomas and John Younger having been paid the sum of $884.40, that he pay to 1) Thomas J, 2) Alfred, 3) Morgan, 4) James T., 5) Malinda, 6) Mary, 7) Josephus and 8) Samuel [Editorial note: the numbers are added for the sake of clarification], children of Thomas Younger, dec'd each the sum of #27.18. That he pay to 1) William, 2) James, 3) Sarah. 4) Dolly, 5) Elizabeth and 6) Martha Younger, children of John Younger, dec'd. $30.25. That he pay Armistead Younger, administrator of James Younger, dec'd $603.40, pay 10 William, 2) Francis, 3) Tomson and 4) James Younger children of James Younger, dec'd $54.37 each. To pay Joshua Coates, administrator of Mary Coates, dec'd $82.77 he having received $400. To pay Joseph Coates, administrator of Mary Coates, dec'd 82.77, he having received $400. To pay Joseph Fuqua, Adm. of Catherine Fuqua, [daughter of William Younger] dec'd $203.48 he having received the sum of $400. To pay James Tucker and Sarah [daughter of Catherine Fuqua], his wife $108.75. To pay William Fuqua $28.75 he having received $80.00. All parties to pay court costs. The Court ordered Richard Logan, Adm. of Mel Spraggins, dec'd. out of the assets of his testator in his hand to be administered. Do pay William Sydnor, Adm. of Williamson Younger $383.77. A subsequent court action took place: Halifax County VA Minute Book 11, pps. 47,48,48B August Court Younger Folks vs Younger Exors This cause came to be heard upon the papers formerly made in the cause and upon the answer of James Burke, Administrator of James Younger, dec'd. and by consent of the parties thereto and by like consent this suit is revived in the name of Armistead Younger, administrator of Joseph Younger. Armistead Younger, administrator of Thomas Younger and by like consent this suit is revived in the name of Edwin Palmer, administrator de bonis now of John Smallman,dec'd. [Editorial note: husband of Nancy, daughter of Thomas who d 1791] with the will annexed and in the name of Armistead Younger, administrator of William Younger [Editorial Note: William is a son of Thomas d 1791] and is hereafter to be proceeded in their names and was assigned by counsel. It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that there is a manifest error in the license of Nov. term 1841 by which James Younger, dec'd was excluded from any portion of the land distributed between the plaintiffs and the defendants. The court doth adjudge order and license that the license of Nov. 1841 be amended and that James Burke, Administrator of James Younger, dec'd, be admitted as one of the distributees in the distribution of the land to be divided between the distributees and that the funds in the hands of Armstead Younger be divided in the following manner: * Armistead Younger is to pay James Burke, Adm. of James Younger, dec'd. $431.12 1/2 with 6% interest from the 24th of Aug 1844 'till paid and that the decree of Nov, term 1841 be amended. * and instead of $466.93 decreed to be paid to Giles McGraw, administrator de bonis now with the will annexed of Jesse Younger, dec'd., Armistead is to pay $432.12 1/2 with like interest from 24 Aug. 1841 'till paid [Editorial note: Jesse is a son of Thomas * Likewise Samuel Younger is to receive $431/12 1/2 with like interest from 24 Aug. 1841. Samuel Younger admits that he has received of Armistead Younger $466.93 with interest from 24 Aug. 1841. Upon consideration thereof the court orders Samuel Younger repay Armistead Younger $35.20 with interest from 24 Aug. 1841 'till paid and that, in default of payment, he may have execution. * therefor that Armistead Younger the administrator of of Joseph Younger, dec'd retain in his hands $431.12 1/2 with interest instead of $466.93 * That Armistead Younger, administrator of Thomas Younger, [Editorial Note: oldest son of Thomas Younger d 1791]a brother of the half blood, who is dead retain in his hands $215.50 1/2 with interest instead of the sum of $233.46. * that he retain $431.12 1/2 with interest 'till paid instead of $466.93 as administrator of William Younger. [Editorial Note: William Younger who married Molly Watkins] * that Armistead Younger pay to Mary Scudder, wife of ____ Scudder, a sister of the half blood [Editorial Note: Formerly Mary Fretwell, daughter of Thomas d 1791] $215.56 1/2 with interest until paid instead of the sum of $33.46. * that Armistead Younger pay to John Legrand the surviving spouse and administrator of his deceased wife [Editorial Note: Elizabeth LeGrand, daughter of Thomas Younger b 1791] the sum of $431.12 1/2 with interest 'till paid instead of $466.93 * that Armistead Younger pay to Katy Brown $431.12 1/2 with interest instead of $466.93 [Editorial Note: Katy Brown is the daughter of Thomas Younger d 1791] * that Armistead Younger pay to John Winn, surviving spouse and administrator of his deceased wife Lucy the sum of $359.07 1/2 with interest 'till paid instead of $466.93. [Editorial Note: Lucy is the daughter of Thomas Younger d 1791] * that he pay Johnathan B Stovall the administrator of John Franklin $412.60 1/2 with like interest 'till paid instead of $448.47, Johnathan admitting he received $448.47. He is to repay $18.52 1/2.
