I believe it was Wilma N., who was discussing with me last night, things we overlook in our own files. Earlier today I believe I posted the following: SOURCE: Halifax County, Virginia Marriage Index. [Boyd-Younger] General Index to Marriages, Halifax Co. VA, 28 May 1792, Betsy Younger to Aaron Boyd, dau Wm. Younger who consents. Surety: David Brandon. Book 1, pg. 26. This is regarding the marriage of Elizabeth "Betsy" Younger, dau of William and Patience Younger, to Aaron Boyd. From the following 1850 census, I had her age as being born abt 1761. Ok, we all know about census reports, but this is the only indication of her birth that I had had thus far. Now, why am I writing all of this again? If she were indeed born in 1761, when she married in 1792, she would have been 31 years old, and surely NOT in need of her father's permission to marry. Although not impossible, but unlikely, she would have had her last child when she was 54 years old. I am now wondering if this was the daughter of William and Patience, or another William Younger?? 1. I am going to look again at the census and see if it is age 89. *Did this and it is 89-BUT the family is that of son Joel and wife Peninah, Elizabeth is merely listed as head of household. 2. Continuing to look for William Youngers. 3. Who is Wm Younger in the 1810 census Essex Co, Va? These 2 in question were dead. 4. Wm Younger who marries Patience , names a daughter Leah in his Will, thus the 7 whites would now include Leah, making 7 persons. Linda in KC
