For JYG, Thanks for the Pension document. I'm home from work and have printed it out, but have some comments and questions. Heres what I can figure out: _______________________________________________________ Name of Soldier Younger, Charles Name of Applicant Widow Younger, Meday Minor Wetherholt, J. Paul (Gdn) Service E 9 WVA Inf B 1 WVA Vet Inf Date of Filing Class Application No. Certificate No. State from which filed ??????? Invalid 1061028 827,892 WVA ??????? Widow 1726843 Ohio ??????? Minor 1726843 A-3-18-33 Ohio Attorney B.L. Meighen ??????? XC 2 653 617 _______________________________________________________ Okay, this is what I know: "Younger, Charles" is Charles Henry Younger Jr born 1 Jan 1844 died 15 Aug 1932, four year Civil War Veteran. "Younger, Meday" is his fourth and last wife, fourty years younger in age than Charles, mother of nine, the youngest of whom was a 16 year old female, named Frances, at the time of Charles death. Frances was 'mentally deficient' and due to being a minor at her fathers death, was eligible to draw his Civil War pension. This she did from Sep 1932 until Sep 1977 when she passed away. "Wetherholt, J. Paul". ??? I haven't a clue as to who he is. Is he a 'MINOR' as in age or a 'MINER" as in coal ??? The '(GDN)' that follows his name: is he Meday's Guardian or is she his Guardian ? The "service" is correct, these are the two units he served with. The first application was done by Charles some years prior to his death by the same Attorney. He was infirm and crippled up from war wounds, prison time in Andersonville during the war, 14 years in Moundsville State Prison for murder and other assorted jail time for small misc crimes. The certificate number 827,892 was his number assigned to his file by the Department of the Army. When the Veteran's Administration was started, his Army file was converted over and given the XC 2 653 617 number. This number was also used during the entire time that Frances Younger collected benefits. I have a complete copy of this file obtianed from the VA and it is 800 and some odd pages long, very interesting reading !!!!! The other two filings under application number 1726843 are totally new info to me. SO........where did you copy this form from ??? Any idea to whom or where I write for a copy of the last two files ??? The four portions that I indicated with "??????", can you read that info on your copy and fill in the blanks for me ??? Also in the top right hand corner above Charles name, is that blob a page number ??? Thanks again for the help and assistance. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. CY
