    1. [YOUNGER] John Henry Wilson Younger # 2

    3. I thought perhaps it would be helpful if I presented my entire rationale on the issue of parentage for John Henry Wilson Yunger [to be referred to as JHWY henceforth] Williamson Younger died 2 Dec 1817. The date is specific since it was included in a court record. he died while executing his father, William's estate and the date of his death was significant to the legal process. His inventory and appraisal occurred 22 Jan 1818 by Fielding Bomar and John Light. His children were named and they were: William Williamson - whose birth occured (Jan) 1817 according to the 1850 census & others Armistead John - who married Sarah Terry) James Mary It seemed strange to me that Mary would name a second child John when a preceeding child named John was still alive. That is why I double checked to be sure that the John listed with Williamson's heirs was not the same as JHWY. Mary Bomar Younger's estate was appraised 16 Sep 1820 and recorded 21 Feb 1821. This probably means she died shortly before that date because the probate usually preceeds the inventory and appraisal. There was almost imediately a demand by William Sydnor, atty., representing William against John, James, Armistead and Williamson by guardian William Barksdale that Sydnor set to the highest bidder the land and slaves which Mary Younger held in her lifetime and one half of the estate of Williamson Younger, dec'd. Common practice would have given the widow one third of the assets. Why were one half being liquidated in the interests of the heirs by their guardian? Were the interests of the heirs being protected in case the widow remarry as might be the case since she was a very young woman. Perhaps there was some indication that that might be the case (a premature pregnancy, perhaps?) In the document previously submitted here in which a Cage was named as JHWY's father, Mary provided only for one child, JHWY. Was that because she knew the others would be provided for by the terms of Williamson's estate? She needed to protect the welfare of her last child, apparently. Who better to care for him than his own father? Although Mary mentioned an anticipated legacy from her father, Bibby Bomar, he did not die until late 1832, In the division of his property he named the children of Mary, dec'd.: Mary Ellington, wife of Loring Ellington John, James, Armistead and Williamson Younger Wilson Cage Why did he call all of Williamson Younger's children by the surname "Younger" and call the subject of our hypothesis "Cage"? Did he know something we do not? It has been suggested that JHWY adopted his guardian's name. There seems to be no proof of that. The court records in Halifax County VA during that period are replete with guardianships and guardian reports for Williamson's heirs, but no evidence of a guardianship exists for JHWY. Is that because no guardianship was required since it was known that ___ Cage was his father? If Williamson Younger had been JHWY's father, he would have shared equally in the assets of Williamson. There is no evidence that he received anything from Williamson's estate. He had full entitlement to any assets that were those of his mother and received from her assets. Which brings us to 6 March 1838 Halifax County VA Deed Book 45:187 William Younger and wife Priscilla } Williamson Younger and wife Louisa } both of Pittsylvania Armistead and wife Rebecca Joseph Goodman and wife Sarah (who are these people? Sarah is the remarried widow of James Younger, dec'd. (only Mary is missing and it is unknown if she survived to this date) These were the heirs and distributors of James Younger, dec'd, late of Halifax County, VA of the one part who sold to Joseph Fuqua and William bates of the same, witnesseth that the above named heirs sell for $91.66 a parcel of land, it being one third part of the estate that fell to Mary Younger in the division of Bibby Bomar's estate by commissioners appointed for that purpose, and which tract became by the demise of Mary Younger, the property of James Younger, dec'd. together with all the rights and priveleges. Signed by all the above heirs. This obviously was not an oversight on the part of the heirs. They had no intention of including JHWY. He would, however, have been entitled to a full share of the property since these were his mother's assets which in her division went to James. When James died the property fell back to Mary's children to divide equally. Keep in mind these were not the assets of Williamson. That is important. It is at this point that JHWY appointed a power of atty to represent his interests . There was perhaps even a law suit (of which I have no knowlege but expect his POA would have pursued that course if he was fully representing him.) The document submitted today by Brownie indicates that he was successful in his quest - and rightly so- again, since these were his mother's assets from her father. I have a birthdate for John henry Wilson Younger which was given to me without documentation. I hesitate to publish it without documentation since it is such a vital piece of evidence. Anyone who can document his birth is encourgaed to do so. I hate to appear like a dog with a bone but at some point we need a consensus on the evidence.

    3. I have John Younger b abt 1812 Halifax, Va, Usa to Williamson Younger and Mary Bomar. Don't ask for a source on this one because I don't have one. This is an old entry... Now comes JHWC Younger who is claimed to have been born in 1818... ok lets accept the latter. Then do we discount that JHWC never married Sarah Terry? Because if he did he was only 12 years old on 8 Oct 1830 when they married and he was only 16 when his daughter Sarah Ann Younger was born. Does this make sense? Please tell me if I am wrong on these dates!! 1850 VA Halifax County, Northern District (030) 476/479 9 Oct Sarah Younger 40 f $2000 VA Sarah A. 16 f VA Mary A.
