BUT if he did have children with Mary Northern bef 1750 and around 1730, these children may have been provided for when their mother died and before Thomas married Sarah Ferguson and started a new family??? Theory here... If nothing else, Williamson Younger is tied to Molly Watkins as his mother through his wife's Will where she provides for her: "of same for Mrs. Huddleston's lifetime..."
That was not Manny, it was either Nancy or Nanny...a female. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JYG" <jyg@kc.rr.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 1:39 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Another Alexander; and John and Mary > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Brownie MacKie" <BMacKie1@compuserve.com> > To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 8:28 AM > Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Another Alexander; and John and Mary > > > > "We have both the William who married Patience unplaced as well as Marcus. > There must be a > > connection. I do not think that Thomas married Sarah Ferguson. I think some other Younger did. If Thomas married Sarah Ferguson, why did he not name John and Sarah Younger as his children in his will as John Ferguson named them in his will as his grandchildren? I don't know anything about the John Ferguson Will, so this is just theory.. If John Ferguson provided well for his grandchildren, could it be that Thomas felt his "other children" needed to be provided for, as his "first children" were already provided for??
No. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JYG" <jyg@kc.rr.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 3:13 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Another Alexander; and John and Mary > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Brownie MacKie" <BMacKie1@compuserve.com> > To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 11:20 AM > Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Another Alexander; and John and Mary > > > > I do not think that Thomas married Sarah Ferguson. Here is the will of John Ferguson: Will of John Ferguson 1769. Records of Essex County. Tappahannock, Virginia. Will Book 12. 1762-1775. p382. Dated 22 April 1769. Probated 16 April 1770. Refers to wife Sarah, to son Josephall, to son James, to son Thomas, to son Benjamin, to daughter Anne Jones, to son-in-law and daughter Joseph and Elizabeth Ryland, to son-in-law and daughter Thomas and Jail Ryland, to son-in-law and daughter Benj and Katherine Haile and their children, to daughter Amy Garnett, to daughter Sarah Grigging (name also appears in will as Griffin), to grand-daughter Sarah Younger, to son-in-law Tandy Dix, to grandson John Younger. Executors, wife Sarah, friend Mr. Joseph Burnett and son-in-law Thomas Ryland. Witnesses Hugh Wilson, John Croxton, James Wilson, William Roane. (Source: FTM CD#187, VA Genealogies #3, Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Vol. II, King and Queen County, Records Concerning 18th Century Persons, 5th Collection, The Learning Co. Inc.) My QUESTION: Why are the two Younger grandchildren listed as "to grandaughter Sarah Younger, to son-in-law Tandy Dix, to grandson John Younger"? IF these two grandchildren are children of one of his daughters who married a Younger - why is Tandy Dix separating them? It would seem more likely he would name them together if they were brother and sister -- I wonder if maybe TWO of his daughters married into the Younger family? If so, evidently both the father and mother are deceased as he didn't name a son-in-law Younger. OR possibly the Sarah Grigging married first to a Younger, and after his death married Mr. Grigging (or Griffin) and the granddaughter Sarah Younger is her child. Which still leaves us with grandson John Younger. Another GUESS is that maybe an unnamed daughter married a Younger, she had a son John Younger, she then remarried to Tandy Dix who was raising this John, and then she died, leaving Mr. Dix as step-father to her son. ALL conjecture of course, but the separating of the two Younger grandchildren has intrigued me.
