I have never met Walela Snowbird...she is a second cousin, I believe. I also have Uncle Ray Younger's notes, and he states very clearly that they saw Cole Younger briefly after one of Cole's lectures, compared family, and Cole joked that they might be "fifth cousins" or so....in other words a relationship was doubtful. Of course, none of them researched the probability. I also have Geneva Younger's research and a letter in which she states that our branch probably came from England and that Wilma Hillman confirmed this for her. Geneva and her daughter spent many years researching this Younger branch. Geneva is the daughter-in-law of Ernest Younger, son of James Williamson Younger. Geneva's research is on FamilySearch for all to see. I stated this privately to Linda, but I'll state it again publicly....I set out to prove that we WERE RELATED to the Younger brothers and found that we were NOT. It certainly is not a matter of wanting to be or not to be related to a gang of bank robbers and thieves. We can chose our friends but not our relatives. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Walela SnowBird" <Nokwsi@worldnet.att.net> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2001 12:39 AM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Addressed to Linda S. > > I find this interesting as this is how I perceive the relationship of the VA > Youngers to the Younger "Gang".....actually, this is what my grandpa told me > how it was, but alas....Brownie doesn't want to hear that, she doesn't want > to be related to the outlaws, she's told me so, she makes no bones about it, > Brownie and I are cousins, but we don't see eye to eye on this..........my > grandpa, Robert Ray, wrote everything down and I have his notes where he and > his father, James Williamson, spent an afternoon with Cole in Clifton, TX > and of course, the subject of genealogy came up.....apparently names were > compared and Cole said that they were related......my grandpa and my dad do > believe that, so do I > > Walela > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "JYG" <jyg@kc.rr.com> > To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: July 30, 2001 2:54 PM > Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Addressed to Linda S. > > > > To the list: > > > > This will NOT happen again, but seems Brownie is not going to leave ma > alone > > no matter where I go, sop lets get this over with.... please accept my > > apologies... > > > > Brownie: > > > > You already know we disagree on this subject and I am not getting into a > > heated debate about it.
