Linda, Mary Estes named as sister in will of Susannah Younger, dau of Markus Younger and Susannah. What relation, if any, might she be to the Nancy Estes listed as head of household in the 1880 Marion Co, AR census. Ellen Younger, 76, is living with her. Also Wiliam Estes, 17. Mabel Motes and I pondered over what the conncection might be for several months before Mabel died. If we could figure this out, it might shed a little more light on the father of Tomahawk Thomas. I have so many Estes in my files it really gets confusing because they come from different families. Some are from the Jesse James line, some from my own and this one, so I will see what I can find. For now: First the Mary Estes you mention was Mary Younger who married George Estes 1 Dec 1786 Halifax, Va. Both of them were witnesses to Mary's brother John's Will in 1827. Mary Estes was also named in the Will of her father Marcus Younger in 1815: SOURCES: -Virginia Marriages to 1800. [Estes-Younger] -Marcus Younger Signed Will: 25 May 1805; Named his heirs and John Younger as his administrator. Markus Younger wrote a will on 25 May 1805 leaving his daughter Susannah 50 acres of land, named grandson James Wyatt, then his 4 children, namely John, Elizabeth Clark, Mary Estes and Susannah Younger. He appointed John as his executor. Witnesses: John Hannard, Armistead Bomar, Sally Hannard. [Halifax County, Virginia Will Book: Bk 10, pg 99.] -John Younger Will signed: 17 Oct 1817, Halifax County, Va, Usa. [Names wife, Lucy Hart Younger;sons Robert, Joel, Thomas to care for his mother.] [Halifax County, Virginia Will Book: Bk 11, pg 50.] -Susannah Younger Signed Will: 1831, Halifax, Va, Usa. [Names slaves Fanny and Harry, providing for them to buy their freedom with a sum of money to her heirs named in the Will; sister Mary Estes; nephew, Younger Wyatt and his wife Polly; witness Dolly Light.] -Settlement of Estate: 28 Aug 1833; Executors S. C. Jackson and Richard Cook; Payees, Lucy Younger, John Lamdrum, Rec'd Samuel Younger, Joel Younger, Thomas Younger and Daniel Mills, Sr. [Halifax County, Virginia Will Book: Bk 15, pg 422.] Can you give me a page number for that 1880 census so I can look it up?
