Recently on Find-A-Grave website, I came across an unknown (to me) Younger: Younger Neal, born 2-13-1844 - died 3-15-1926. Well, you know me, I wanted to know how he fit in. No luck. I checked census records and found in 1850 Jasper, Crawford Co. AR this family: William J. Neal 33 NC Manney or Monney Neal 32f TN Johnathon 11m AR Francis M. 9m AR Elizabeth 7f AR Younger 6m AR James 1m AR In 1870 Van Buren, Crawford Co. AR Younger Neal 26 AR In 1880 Alma, Crawford Co. AR Younger Neal, 36 AR NC TN Martha Neal 33 AR AR AR 4 children 1900 Alma, Crawford Co. AR Younger Neal head, Feb 1845 55 md 30years AR AR AR Mattie Neal, wife, Feb 1847 53 m30y 5-5ch AR SC KY 4 children still at home I checked my database and cannot find any Younger females named Monney or Manney nor do I have a William J. Neal. I do have a Martha Catherine Younger, dau. of Josephus and Jane A. (Lockett) Younger who married a Gabriel D. Neal abt. 1888 in North Caroline, I'm assuming. Gabriel was born ca. 1854 NC and I found them in the 1900 Holloway, Person Co. NC census, but can't read much of it. Just Gabriel age 46 and "C" - it looks like married 12 years and there are abt 4 children along with a brother living with them. I found Gabriel in the 1870 census, his parents were John F. and Martha R. (???) Neal, both age 55 and born in NC. So....has anybody heard of this Younger Neal? Wilma
30 Jun 1733 - John Younger to Mary Price, she from Talbot County 15 Jun 1732 - Ann Younger to John Price Both married in Middlesex County, VA This makes me wonder if the Youngers of Middlesex County stem from the Talbot County VA Youngers about whom we know so little. Thanks for the reply. Of course I don't know the answer to your conjecture - there were several Ann Price's and several John Prices in that CD - these were the only two who connected with the Younger surname. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilma C. My line is the Capt. John W. Younger line, he came from Kent County, Maryland, too. None of my line ever changed their name. You know we have a Younger DNA project at www.familytreedna.com/public/Younger. You don't happen to know any other descendants (male) with the Younger name from the Joseph Younger line? Didn't he stay in Maryland? When a lot of the other guys left to go west? We do have DNA from a line which trickled down to be an Isaac Younger(I believe). He was a car dealer in Chestertown, MD. His nephew gave the DNA for the Humphrey Younger line. Can you send us the line of descendants of Joseph Younger? Your line. I'm pretty unclear about who belonged to who? Mostly the early line. Those that stayed in Kent County. We pretty well know Joseph Youngers children( but not sure all were mentioned in his will) but after that? Sure would appreciate any info. -----Original Message----- >From: "Tribble, Cynthia" <cytribbl@UTMB.EDU> >Sent: Jan 23, 2009 4:17 PM >To: "'YOUNGER@rootsweb.com'" <YOUNGER@rootsweb.com> >Subject: [YOUNGER] YOUNGER ALIASES > >Has anyone ever suspected or discovered that any of the Younger's that were kin to the Younger Gang changed their first names in the census to keep authorities or outlaws from discovering their whereabouts? > >Best regards, >Cynthia Tribble - paternal grandmother is Loree Dale Younger whose line is connected to Joseph Younger Maryland. > >Cynthia Tribble >Grants & Contracts Specialist II >Division of Clinical and Experimental Immunology & Infectious Diseases (CEIID) >Department of Pediatrics >The University of Texas Medical Branch >2.300 Children's Hospital, Route 0366 >Galveston, TX 77555-0366 >(409) 772-1750 phone >(409) 772-1761 fax >Cynthia.Tribble@utmb.edu<mailto:Cynthia.Tribble@utmb.edu> > > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to YOUNGER-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com

Does anyone know when James Samuel, John Henry Wilson where born? I already have the following: Family lore has it that Mary Bomar Younger was pregnant with JHW Younger when Williamson died. As it went in those days, a male guardian had to be named for all children (I believe 17 yrs. and under) when their father (providers) died. Wilson Cage and Fielding Cage were prosperous brothers in the area...they were trappers, I believe. Both were married, but Wilson had no children. Wilson was named guardian of the younger Younger (I couldn't resist) children. When Mary died, too, shortly after Williamson died, Wilson took the three youngest, Williamson, John, and John Henry. Apparently he moved to Gibson County, TN and took them with him. They ended up in Carroll County...probably because of changing boundaries, etc. John Henry Wilson Cage Younger ended up in MS where he married Lucy Lanier. We have court records where he sued for his part of his parents/grandparents estate. I'm going to try to put those on the new site. Williamson and Mary Bomar Younger were the parents of: Mary, William, James Samuel, Armistead, Williamson, John and John Henry Wilson Younger aka Cage. There is a chancery suit that names James Younger who died in 1836, his widow was Sarah Anderson who married a second husband Joseph Goodman (very prominent in the county). James was a tailor in Meadsville community in the county. The chancery suit list bothers William, Armstead, John, and Williamson. James states that he does not claim borther John because his mother Mary had him before she was married. J. H. W. Younger is John Henry Wilson Younger, son of Williamson and Mary Bomar Younger. Sept. 28, 1842 - John H. W. Younger vs Armistead and John Younger is also John Henry Wilson Younger. 1842 H. W. Younger vs Armistead Younger is "Henry Wilson Younger" same as J. H. W. Younger. He was aka John Henry Wilson Cage Younger. J. A S. Younger, I suspect, is James Samuel Younger. James Samuel, John Henry Wilson Younger were both in the William and Mary Watkins Younger group and were sons of Mary Bomar and Williamson Bomar. Extra details for anyone that can use them: A notice of marriage in the October 02, 1850 edition of the Maryland Sun, identifies Lemuel and Anna Fisher Younger as residents of Baltimore Co. The March 02, 1896 edition of the Maryland Sun, states Lemuel Younger at Powhatan, died, age 70 (so THIS particular Lemuel would have been born abt1826) In the Washington Reporter, August 02, 1819 and published in Pa, a notice of death for Nehemiah Younger, aged 80 years old, making him born abt. 1739. In the March 16, 1883 edition of the Maryland Sun, it states Daniel K. Younger, age 73 died 14 March, 1883. That would make this Daniel K. born about 1810 Marriage of Gilbert and Rebecca Hardey also listed in Marriage records, Prince Georges Co., Maryland, 1777 to 1836 Just thought Id add a couple more puzzle pieces that "might" help someone................ Just came upon this. John Hancock Lee, father Hancock Lee b. 1703 Ditchley, , Northuberland Co.,VA. m. Mary Willis b. Aug.5 1716 in Willis Hills, Fredricksburg,VA. His son, John Hancock Lee, b. Fauquier Co, VA, Sept, 20,1742, m. Latetia Atwell b. 1745.Married 1773, Culpepper Co, VA. Married second, Elizabeth Bell, b. in Orange Co, VA. Married in Orange Co, Dec. 18,1781. Their child, Sarah Alexander"Sallie" Lee, b. in Woodford Co, KY m. John Jordan Crittendon b. Sept 10,1787 in Woodford County, KY. Married in 1811 in Woodford County, KY. They moved to Logan County, KY(Russellville, KY). The Crittendons married into the Hardins. Not sure if this family is related to the John Lee m. Elizabeth(Rebecca)? Thompson in St. Mary's County, MD. But also of interest is that Van Swearengins daughter "Susie" m. Zachariah Bell, Oct. 24,1815, in Shelby County, KY. One other item of interest is that Mary Magdalene Chastin, b. July 23,1726, married James Powell Cocke m. Oct.22,1742. Peter Mo! ntigue's daughter, Elizabeth, m. Maurice Cocke(2nd). Peter Montigue is the ancestor of Mary Dearing Younger, wife of John W. Younger. The Chastains later married into Mary Younger Ragans son, Jacob Ragan. Thomas Montigue m. Susanna Ford, they were in Woodford County, KY in the early 1800's. Interesting there was a Lemuel Younger Ford, also.son of John Ford and Sara Berry, as well as a Lemuel Montigue. Seems like John Rene Chastian, Jr. married Anna Ford. Not sure if they were from the same family. But probably. And there was a Lemuel Younger(unknown family ties). ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
Wilma, Judy Hofstetter and I were in Shelbyville last March and Betty Matthews(the local genegolist) took us to see the land Capt. John W. Younger lived on and then we went to Grovehill Cemetary. She said I believe and Judy can comment on whether my memory is correct because she took notes. There is a Hardin stone at the entrance there which she said was this Mark Hardin's and it seems she said that he had donated the land for the cemetary. I'm not sure who this Mark Hardin is exactly. But the Hardin's married into the Crittendons and there was a Crittendon grave close by. Betty's husband is also a Hardin but at the time I didn't know enough about Isaac Hardin's line to figure out how they connected.Betty had at some point in time done genealogy on Capt. John W. Younger but she couldn't remember who had hired her. Of personal interest to me was the grave of Van Sweargenin, who married Susan Greathouse(not sure I spelled that correctly). One time I sent you a court record w! here (one of the Younger's) I think Eben Younger had gone before one of the Swearengin's (who held some public office) in Frederick County, MD. The Younger's also had dealings with the Sweargenins in Bullit County, KY and Charles Younger's will was signed by a John R. Sweargenin as a witness. I've also heard that one of the Sweargenins and one of the Teagues was on a list of being in the Quantrell gang. Although I have never seen that list, just someone on Genealogy.com had mentioned that. By the way, some of the Sweargenins were in St. Mary's County, MD.(Garret Sweargenin and "Maryland"Van Sweargenin m. Elizabeth Walker(then went to Ohio County, VA).Van Sweargenin was the grandson of "Maryland" Van Sweargenin through his son, John. -----Original Message----- >From: "Wilma C.
