Brownie - I'm struggling with the same problem in my family. My wife's grand-uncle uploaded our info (or rather, a sloppy version of it) then died ... now there's nobody to remove it. UGH! Please email me off-list if it appears that anyone in my clan is responsible for this. - Stephen On Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 8:14 AM, <Mbmackie1231@aol.com> wrote: > Dear Youngers: > > I DO NOT ALLOW POSTING/PUBLICATION ON ANCESTRY.COM <http://ancestry.com/>(nor any other > genealogy company) OF MY E-MAILS TO ANY OF YOU. Yeah, and I could have sworn I'd gotten it from there. I got every danged Younger in Texas death certificates from there. I even found a remote branch of Youngers, from our line, south of Dallas, by going through FamilySearch Pilot. Brownie In a message dated 4/16/2009 1:26:53 P.M. Bob, I had completely forgotten that! Old-age I suppose. As for his date of birth, I first found him with his father, Josiah, Jr. at age 6 in 1850; then in 1860 he was 17. 1870 I lost him, not with father; 1880 he was 37, 1900 he was 57 and 1910 he was 67 - which all seems to agree with Find A Grave's data of March 31, 1843. As for his connections, like I said he was with his father, Josiah, Jr. in 1850; there was a Josiah age 50-60 in 1840 with a son 20-30 which could be Josiah Jr., in 1830 I didn't find anyone in Orange Co. NC I thought likely, and in 1820 there was a Joseph that could fit, but when you get into the 1840's and beyond, it's mostly guesswork. I never found anything that suggests Alexander was in Orange Co., NC -- so your guess would be as good as mine. For now, I'm assuming Josiah Joseph's father was Josiah, Jr., and Josiah, Jr., father was Josiah Sr. and that's as far as I go. Josiah Joseph was in Orange Co., NC in 1850, then from 1860 onward he was in McNairy Co., TN. Three of his children ended up in Texas and the other four probably died in McNairy Co. or at least in TN. Well, I've found some new things and thought I'd post again. I've traced the family of Josiah Younger, Jr. and Margaret, his first wife's son: Josiah Joseph born Mar 31, 1843 in Orange Co. NC and died March 2, 1913 in McNairy Co. TN. If anyone else is researching this line, I'll be glad to post what I've found, otherwise I won't clutter up the list. I've traced the children of Josiah Joseph through 1930 census and found a few of them in the Texas Death Index. >From what I could find, Josiah Joseph married a Sarah Lee (she might have been an Inman who married first to a Mr. Lee) all I know for sure is that I found a marriage record for a Josiah to Sarah L. Lee on ancestry. I found a couple of death certs on the LDS site, and B. F. Younger (who I'm pretty sure is Benjamin Franklin Younger, a twin son of Josiah; and Sarah Lucy Younger who married a Combs, both list their mother as Sarah Buchanan. So, the mother could have been a Buchanan who married a Mr. Lee. Some one on the FindAGrave site lists her maiden name as Inman, but I cannot find anything to back that up. I forgot to mention the other twin was George W. and these twin boys married sisters, the LaRue girls. Maxie and Serantney were their names. They lived together or side by side through 1920 census, and Benjamin F. died 1929. I found George W. in 1930 census but did not find him in the death certs. Wilma
This MAY be part of my Wm Younger's line.? His first son was named Joshia and Wm was born in NC, but so far I have not have? luck finding documentation as to Wm's parents.? Usually in Scottish families the first son is named for the father's father, second son for mother's father.? But again there is no proof.? Wm is found in Lincoln Co Ky where he married Elizabeth Daughtery 1 Jan 1837.? So far all I know for certain is that Wm had brother/cousin named Andrew J. Younger found with Wm in 1890 Cozard, Neb.? My Grandmother spoke of the twin daughters of AJ and that the families moved about together. Believe that this family was born under a traveling star as they did move about over the years.? Wm died in Ill, his sons died in Ok, Mo, and Ar.? Only two really stayed in close touch, that was my great grandfather Newton and his bro Barry. Whatever any one can shed on this line would so appreciated. This is what I have, anybody have anything different? Josiah Younger, b. 1780-1790 prob SC died 1840-1850 prob. McNairy Co. TN Josiah, Jr. married Margaret ?, he was born c1815 NC, died after 1880 McNairy Co. Josiah Joseph b. Mar 31, 1843 Orange Co. NC, died Mar 2, 1913, McNairy Co TN I found him at Find A Grave, said his wife was Sarah L. Inman - I also found a couple of death certs at the LDS pilot site (Texas deaths) that were for B. F. Younger, a male and Sarah Lucy (Younger) Combs, and they both give parents names as Joe Younger and Sarah Buchanan. Is anybody researching this line of Youngers? Appreciate any help on straightening me out. Josiah Joseph married at least three times, first to unknown, second to Sarah ??? and 3rd to Elizabeth E. Devault. Sarah L. also married a few times; first to a Lee, and second to Josiah Joseph. I can be wrong on the marriages -- can't duplicate where I found them. Another time when I wasn't as on the ball as I try to be in trying to note my sources. I found J.J. in McNairy Co. TN in 1850 and 1860 census, couldn't find him anywhere in 1870 and then he was back in McNairy (or had never moved) by 1880, 1900 and 1910 and he died there in 1913 according to FAG, and is buried in Good Hope Cemetery along with his wife and daughter Margaret E. Younger (she never married). Wilma
Cy...thank you for that. My husband Jim dittoes. He had forgotten all about it, so when I showed him your e-mail, he pulled some stuff up off the web, and now we have the information tucked away with our important papers. Jim was career military. Quoted in full: QUOTE Many Wartime Veterans Could Be Eligible for $1,950 Per Month By Robb Beltran Illinois VFW News If you are a wartime veteran or a widow(er) of one, you could be eligible for almost $1,950.00 per month Tax-free. The problem is you probably haven't heard about this little known benefit. It's called the Veteran's Improved Pension Benefit, which is a non-service connected benefit and sinfully enough it has been available for Veteran's since November 1. 1951. According to a VA estimate, only one in seven veteran widows who probably could qualify for the pension actually get the monthly checks. What's more, participation is falling, according to a Knight Rider analysis of VA records. As a Gulf War Veteran and former television reporter, I wanted to find out why. I learned about the benefit after watching a special NBC report, but it is obvious many veterans didn't. It disturbed me that these men and women, who served their country, were somehow being neglected of benefits in which they earned simply because they didn't know about it. According to one VA report, "There are simply too many possible candidates for the VA to not only locate, but to qualify." The problem is many of the veterans who do know about the benefit are simply under the impression they have to be impoverished or disabled to reveive the benefit and don't apply for fear of being declined. It is simply not true. Although there are requirements they are often misconstrued. Here are the basics: To meet the military qualifications, a veteran has to have served 90 days active duty (one of which was during wartime), have a discharge of any kind other than dishonorable, and be either age 65 or disabled. In addition, the veteran or his widow must also meet other means testing criteria for their income and assets. When properly understood, neither of these is as exclusionary as they first appear. To qualify financially, an applicant must have less than $80,000 in assets, excluding their home and vehicles. This is a major deterrent for many, but also the most misunderstood. Actually very few of us know how the Department of Veterans Affairs considers income for this benefit. Income minus UME = IVAP! Indeed they call it IVAP or Income for Veterans Affairs Purposes, which is income minus un-reimbursed medical expenses (UME). Many do not expect to receive a benefit based in part upon their un-reimbursed medical expenses. But there is for our veterans and their widows. Imagine if you as a veteran could receive tax-free money every month for life. This benefit could help you pay anyone including your child(ren) for home care. It can also be used to help you pay for professional care in the home, for assisted living, or for nursing home fees and other un-reimbursed medical expenses. It may take up to six months before a veteran is approved and it may be a pain to fill out the forms properly, but imagine getting $1950.00 a month tax-free. It's simply a win-win situation for veterans to at least try and qualify. If you think you might be able to take advantage of this benefit, visit www.VBUSA.org for a more detailed explanation of the benefit, and how it works.
