The Maryland Sun, March 3, 1908 gives mortuary notice of a Thomas R Younger and his wife, both age 63 who died on March 2, 1908. Thomas was an employee for the Gas company and 30 years prior to that, superintendent of the Powhattan Horse Car Company. Their children were Thomas A. Younger, Gilbert R. Younger, Frank W. Younger, Edith and Effie M Younger and Mrs. Samuel Conant. Hi out there, Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilma C. I would have an interest in all things Younger in Maryland. Given that we have never really found Josua's primary family, bits and pieces of information can help us differentiate the family members we do find. They were pretty consistent in their given names: James, Thomas, William , etc.- names hard to place. A few days ago I ran across this family while looking for a different Jemima Younger and decided to see where it would lead me. Well Robert James (a good solid Scottish name) was born in MD, his mother and father born in Scotland. I, of course, don't know who his father was, my guess is John based on the fact that he named his first son, John J. I traced the family through the census from 1850 to 1900 when Robert James evidently died since Fannie was a widow in 1910. I never found her after 1910 census so she probably died between 1910 and 1920. I found their marriage listed in the Maryland Marriages online, Frances L. Stevens was her maiden name. I'll be happy to post what I found if anyone has an interest. This family stayed in Baltimore, Maryland through 1920 census. I haven't searched the 1930 yet. Wilma

Re the death records, I meant to say they didn't give the birth date, so it's hard to know which Younger is being referred to. Thanks for the Marriage info, I will have to look at that site. ----- Original Message ----- From: "L S Y" <lsy.genealogy@gmail.com> To: <younger@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 01, 2009 2:08 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Oregon Youngers > Your gripe is a common one. Your gripe is a common one. They've been working on updating the indices available directly from the archives at http://genealogy.state.or.us/ but it's a slow process. Last time I looked at the Oregon Death Index (only available at Ancestry which I access at the public library) it included the death date, so it's pretty unfortuntate if it's been removed. Finding it on the microfilm is pretty easy though if you have a couple you'd like me to look up. The death certificate holdings at the archives go from 1903-1958, but for a quarter and a little time with the microfilm reader I get to make a copy from the original. Marriage Certificates, on the other hand vary from county to county. If you know the county, you can look it up in the Records Guide here: http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/county/cpquick.html and it will let you know who holds the record. - Stephen On Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 9:13 PM, Wilma (Younger) Norton < wilma.norton@cox.net> wrote: > Thanks for the offer, Stephen. Thanks for the offer, Stephen. The one thing that messes me up, the Oregon Marriages online at ancestry have the groom's name and date of marriage, but not the bride's name! Frustrating. And the Oregon Death Index doesn't give the date, so it's impossible to be sure if the person listed is the one you are looking for. My grandfather (Dick Younger, son of Charlie & Rutha of Stone County) settled here (in Oregon) in 1945. I've seen others in the tax rolls as far back as the mid-1850s, but none on the 1850 Census. There used to be quite a few Youngers in the Portland area whose families had been here longer than ours, but I haven't run across any of them for a while. Since I work about three miles from the Oregon State Archives, if there's every anything in their holdings you'd like me to look up, just let me know. - Stephen On Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 9:30 AM, Wilma (Younger) Norton < wilma.norton@cox.net> wrote: > I just finished going through the census, 1860 to 1930 looking for > Younger's living in Oregon. I just finished going through the census, 1860 to 1930 looking for Younger's living in Oregon. What amazed me most, is that so many of them were foreign born, from Scotland, Ireland and England. There were none in 1850 (at least none who were indexed). The only family that was somewhat familiar to me was Nero Littleton, son of Littleton Purcell Younger. Wilma
You welcome, Clifford. I thought it was you, but wasn't positive. That would be my line Wilma. My g-g-g-grandfather and g-g-g-grandmother were Johann August Juenger and Johanne Rosine Schumannin. I've seen the one you cite before and as far as I can tell, they are not of my line. Thanks for thinking of the list though and passing the info on. I know someone on our List has Juenger in their line, and came across this on the Pilot Search site for Texas Death Certs: Rudolph Robert Younger, son of above, b 8-22-1895 TX d. 6-9-1970 Houston, Harris Co. TX. Anyone needs any other information on the death cert., just ask. Wilma
Come to think of it seems like I saw a William Younger either in Dunklin County,MO or around Poplar Bluff, MO.(where Hugh B. other child Logan lived.) And I really couldn't put a finger on who he was. The Youngers who I call "Crittendon County,KY" Youngers also lived in Dunklin County, MO at the same time. There was a Pearl and John in that family. That John's birth certificate is on the Missouri Death Certificate data base. There is a Younger family who I have talked to in and around Mauldin,MO(around Poplar Bluff,MO) who have been around there a long time and they are some relation to Henery Younger, son of Isaac ?. I think. -----Original Message----- >From: JudyFoley <judyfoley@peoplepc.com> >Sent: Apr 21, 2009 4:01 PM >To: younger@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] John Younger in Illinois > >My great grandmother's father(John B. He was 75 in the 1900 census in MO -- I'd be thinking he died there. I assume you've checked the MO Death records real close? I don't know for sure how far they go, even if they go past 1900 or not, but that is where I'd start looking. As usual, I spoke too soon. The material that I "unearthed" by Margarette Hutchins is all facts not narrative, and we have all the facts. Sorry. I'm unearthing more soon, so perhaps I'll find something. Brownie **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Oh Debra, Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention! I didn't even think to question what was written in the census! Dumb me, I usually look at that, but was so focused on finding a John born 1819. I guess I had blinders on! Also, thanks for the added information. I didn't have his marriage info, or the 1860 census info. Wilma In case anyone is interested, William F. died in Illinois sometime between 1900-1910 census, and Alice (Dollarhide) Younger moved with her son, Perry L. to Oregon where he married and raised his family. I have more on this family if anyone is interested. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deborah Campisano" <d.campisano@insightbb.com> To: <younger@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 19, 2009 10:59 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] John Younger in Illinois > There must be an error or typo on the year for John, uncle of William F. > Younger. There must be an error or typo on the year for John, uncle of William F. Younger. He is listed as age 70 in 1900, so born about 1830 in Kentucky.
