    3. Hi, There are other reference to people sentenced to "TRANSPORTATION" to the colonies prior to the revolution and there were a number of YOUNGERs listed. In addition to "TRANSPORTATION" there were a number of YOUNGERs brought to the colonies and sold as indentured for a 7 year period, but this could be extended for an additional 7 years for various reasons. Life expectancy was short so many did not live out there term, but may have had children. Ref: "The Chesapeake in the Seventeenth Century" Edited by Thad W. Tate & David L. Ammerman, published by Norton. There are other references I can't find quickly. The colonial court records for Maryland shows that Alexander Younger brought several "YOUNGERs" to Maryland and the indications are that they became indentured. 2. Hmmmm....found this this morning and find it fascinating...may explain a few things. >From freeafricanamericans.com/Campbell_Charity.htm See "Carter Family" 5. "Couzens" Bib & Bush may have been related to Bibby Bush, a 1769 Dobbs County taxable who may have been the husband of Edward Carter's daughter, Rachel. There was a Bibby Bush who was a surveyor of roads in Essex County in 1742 [Orders 1742-3, 39] and a Bush Beebe who was head of a Rhode Island household of 5 "other free" in 1790 [RI:20]. 2. This had me thinking about materials on line from various sources, libraries, etc.? The only things available are those which have been digitized and prepared for Internet use.? Scanning was once thought to be the way to go,but those constantly thinking computer nerds needed more complicated way to accomplish this, thus digital was born.? The Mormons are using volunteers, and many Gen. societies have signed up, so maybe the next step? will be for volunteers to step up and convert the? gillions of records and books for use.? Of course, there will be a fee, some one will think of a way to make a profit from it.? It is the American Way!! 3. Saw this on another List, forwarded to Bobbi and she asked me to forward it on to this List as she is traveling. Wilma Subject: FTDNA SALE ---JUST ANNOUNCED! Greetings everyone! I wanted all of you to get in on this before it's gone in the case you have been waiting for a DNA test sale. I just received this msg. from FTDNA.... Dear Family Tree DNA Group Administrator, Last summer we offered a pricing special that was the most successful offering of its kind in our company's history. Many project administrators strongly supported our recruitment efforts and both their projects and our database grew significantly. This year we will offer an early summer special with an unparalleled promotional discount. Offer summary: . Y-DNA37+mtDNA for $119. (The regular project price is $248 - a reduction of more than 50%!!) . The promotion will begin on June 9, 2009 and will end on June 24, 2009 . Kits ordered in this sale must be paid for by June 30, 2009 This is your new members' opportunity to skip past the Y-DNA12 and Y-DNA25 tests and get the best Y-DNA Genealogical test on the market in addition to an mtDNA test for an extremely reduced price! I should also mention that according to one of our competitors' method of counting markers our 37-marker test could also be called a "41-marker test" as we do test and report markers 464e, 464f, 464g, and DYS19b. Though we test them, it is very rare that individuals have results for these markers. Therefore, by our conservative counting method, our competitor's "33-marker test" is actually a "29-marker test." We mention this to make sure that you understand the difference between these tests and are able to compare "apples to apples." So... I hope that with this promotion your project can gain many new members. As always, that you for your continued support. 3. Hi Leni, I'm laughing too. The Leonard Younger who was my grandfather's nephew was born about 1894. The participant could be his son I may not have mentioned it in my earlier note, but Joshua Younger, father of Leonard died in July 1947. I have a copy of the telegram his son sent to my grandfather telling of Joshua's death. 3. Not sure how much help this is, but I found this: 1790 Queen Anne's County, MD census: Mary Younger - 1 free white male under 16; 2 free white females including heads of household. 1800 Kent Co. MD census: Mary Younger - 2 white males 16 to 25; 1 white female 16 to 25; 1 female 45 and over; all other persons 2. 1810 Calvert Co. MD: Mary Younger 2 males under 10; 1 female under 10; 1 female 26-44; 1 female 45 and over. Didn't find Mary after 1810 census. My guess this was Mary and a son and daughter; daughter married, son still at home; then son moves out or dies, daughter's husband dies leaving Mary and daughter-in law. Just suppositions, as I'm sure you know. When I was working on this line, I made the guess that in the 1800 census, the Mary was the widow of Joseph and she was living next door (or in the same county) as Isaac, another son of Joseph and Mary. This is the Joseph I think is the wife of Mary and father of Isaac mentioned. Kent Co. MD Will Book 7: 299 Will of Joseph Younger (Sr.) Sept. 1790 To Isaac Younger, my beloved son, all the land in dispute between John Kennard and me and also to Isaac to take my beloved son, James Younger, and give him sufficient schooling. If he recovers the land Isaac is to give the children Sarah, Samuel, Daniel, James and Ann ten pounds when they become of age. I leave my son Joseph and my wife Mary joint executors. 3. Judy, the fact that there is no age or family group to work from, makes it difficult to find her in a census. She is the only Younger in your church list, and "maybe" a widow. She would not be listed in 1830, or 1840 unless she was a landholder, and if a widow, may be deceased by 1850. At any rate, I could not find her in any census from 1830-1850 in either Allegany, Washington or Garrett Counties. However, Gilbert Younger, son of Humphrey, was known to reside in Washington County. So, its possible that she was a relative to Gilbert, s/o Humphrey but thats only a possiblility, not a fact. 3. Wilma, I don't think anyone else but you can see these matches since your brother's DNA is the one entered at Ancestry. Can you please send me the DNA info for the other people if you can see it (along with any genealogy info you have on them) and I'll enter it in to the spreadsheet I keep? I just realized that we might as well include it in ours as long as your brother is going to get matches there. Thanks, Bobbi PS - Sorry....I've been gone all day. -----Original Message----- From: younger-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:younger-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Wilma (Younger) Norton Sent: Saturday, May 16, 2009 10:52 AM To: younger@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Leonard Earl Younger Brownie, I don't understand how you can make such an emphatic statement when I've told you that his test results are at ancestry. I'm sorry if you can't see it, but it is there. I have no trouble at all viewing his, mine and John Adam's results. Plus a whole bunch more that are not close matches with me. I'm not sure, but if John Brown wanted to go to FTDNA and look at dna results, he wouldn't be able to unless he had tested at FTDNA - and even then he might only be able to see his group or surname??? Like I said, I don't know how it works, but it gives me a royal pain to be called a liar.
