    3. Donna, Last night I found many Youngers living in Stockton, Cedar, Mo. That name El Dorado stuck in my head when I read your post, so did a "search" in my database and here were the results. I don't lnow if this connects to yours, but they were in the same place. Minnie Caroline Younger b 1881 Stockton, Cedar, Mo; d 1965 El Dorado Springs, Mo (which county?). m1 John Wesley Gilpin 1900 in Stockton. m2 Frank Young 1920 in Stockton. He dies in 1950 El Dorado. 3. Yes, this is the cast of characters. I have always wondered if Elizabeth wasn't also a child of Charles'. She was a mere child when she had these two children. First of all, she is known to have been a mullatto (fathered by whom???? if not Charles) He left 200 acres of land to Fanny, Nathan, Washington, Elizabeth. For his children by Elizabeth, they were to be taken north where"their morals would be protected" and they were to receive a proper English education. They both graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio. The boy went black and the girl went white so some of her descendants have had no idea that they descended from slaves when they started their genealogy. They have been wonderfully talented researchers and appreciate their heritage - be it, a surprise. 3. Marguerite Hutchins was a teacher who spent her summer vacations traveling and doing Younger research (in the days when teachers didn't have to take courses in the summer). She belonged to the Friends of the Youngers. When she died, her family donated boxes of unorganized but well documented research to FOTY. The organization considered having her notes photocopied but it didn't make the material available for the members to use it. Stupidly I volunteered to organize the material. It took me five years of constant and dedicated work. This way her work was preserved and it is available to anyone who wants to have access. The last book was a compilation of the three previous ones with a poorly (I fear) done index. I donated all rights to the book to the organization so that they could get a little income to continue their work of preserving the Younger history. 3. I wish I had something wonderfull to give you but I don't. I have been in correspondence with a lady who has worked as hard as anyone can work and has as yet not solved the mystery of William Younger's parentage. In fact she has no more than you have. I would mention that I am intrigued by the name of Berry (Barry) for one of their children. Ms Hutchins had a line of Barrys and although they did not connect with the Youngers, they were associated in some way. As you go along in your search, keep an eye out for associated Barrys. It might lead to something. Bette Andres wrote: > Reading all that you have searched has been very helpful. I am > searching for the father of William Younger born 1816 in NC. Lived in > Lincoln Co. I wish I had the hours to do the work on each individual, but there are so many avenues. It would be of interest here to see how Elizabeth came to be in Charles' household. Was she the child of another slave and Charles? Was she purchased, is there a record. It does go on...and on...
