    3. > I don't disagree that Thomas, son of John and Sarah Kennard, could be the Rev War soldier There is "a" Thomas Younger as follows: -Revolutionary War Soldier Enrolled Harford County, Md by Capt. Aquila Paca; reviewed and passed by James Carvel Hall, July 24th, 1776. [SOURCE: Genealogical Records: Maryland Settlers & Soldiers, 1700s-1800s: Muster Rolls & Other Records of Service, Flying Camp Papers, Page 59.] >but that's about as far as I can go. There is no evidence that Joshua and Thomas are related. Folks have been trying to stuff > Joshua into that Maryland family ever since I started being interested in genealogy. In John Younger's will he > does not name all of his children - he says "the rest of my children". I think it is a given that Kennard is > one of the unnamed because of a legal action on the estate. Do you have any "speculation" as to who Joshua's parents might have been? > > However, Joshua swore on a Bible that he was born in VA, enlisted in Virginia, fought in Virginia, got a grant > from Virginia, moved to Virginia (now KY). Do we really think he was kidding? Or did Sarah Kennard Younger sneak over into Virginia, have the baby and rush back to Maryland with some sense of accomplishment. I don't think so. It is irrational. That is why we must always stick to the documentation. If it is true, show me, I > am willing to change my mind but undocumented drivvel just can't fly. It muddies the waters for generations to > come. The DAR states Joshua was born in Virginia. I found something interesting last night, that you probably already know. I have his children born in Romney, Hampshire, Va between 1772-1782? and Elizabeth dying there in 1787.... this is in WEST Virginia (I thought VA) and so close to Maryland it isn't funny. NOT that that means anything either. Did Elizabeth die there and who gave us her b/d dates. It is so hard to believe she was not Elizabeth Lee. If all we had was the years of b/ that would be one thing, but whole dates?? AND if Elizabeth Lee was not their mother.... WHO was? Joshua also names two of his children middle names Lee, which name was carried down after that for many generations. I also looked through about 500 Elizabeth Lees last night and found none to be Joshua's mother. Where did this name come from in the FIRST place? Someone found it somewhere, other than repeated and repeated until now... Not to change the subject.... Wilma was your Peter in the War of 1812? I found: -War of 1812-Service Records YOUNGER PETER DUDLEY'S MOUNTED BATT'N, KENTUCKY VOLS. PRIVATE PRIVATE 234- 602 YOUNGER PETER JOHNSON'S REG'T MOUNTED KENTUCKY VOLS. PRIVATE PRIVATE 234- 602 Somewhere out there is the Kennard Younger Bible and it in important information I was given from it concerning his brother, Joshua Younger. Linda in KCMO

    1. [YOUNGER] Cemeteries, Halifax County, Va -- locating them (1-10)
    2. Greetings The Halifax County Cemetery books give scant information on locations of the cemeteries listed. Someone has been kind enough to take the time to send me instructions on how to reach the Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg, Va (the books only provide it's location as Scottsburg, Va .) I think this is a great idea for those wishing to know more precisly where a cemetery of interest to them is located, and if they wish, directions on how to get there. The directions sent to me follow: ------------------------------------------------------------- Heading east from state route 360 towards Scottsburg on state route 344 you drive through the town and as you exit the town you take the left fork, state route 720. Oakland Cemetery is just a short distance out of town and is on the left side of the road. The entrance is marked by 2 brick pillars. The left has a stone with the cemetery name and the year 1894. The right pillar has the names of the founders. ---------------------------------------------------- I think this is a great idea ! With this in mind I am asking any of you guys that have knowledge of directions to reach any of the Cemeteries in Halifax County, Va. to send them to me, and I will try to preserve them for those who need the info now or in the future. I will post the cemeteries 10 at a time for a short while to see if it works. If you or someone you know can give directions to any of them, please send the directions to me. If the idea dies, I tried. First 10 Cemeteries. 3. Believe it or not Idress Craig must have been named for an ancestor/relative, for there was another one born in the 1770's. As I am not interested in this line I did not copy it. Is this something you want? Let me know. You would think this was a one-in-a-million name wouldn't you? New one to me anyway.... Linda in KCMO

    3. I have a William, but disregarded when you said born in NC, now you add may be KY. If so, I do have thisfor you: William Younger b 12 jan 1816 Lebanon Junction, Bullitt, KY; d aft 1850 (so I may have noted him in the 1850 which was lost in a source field. I will check on this). His parents were Henry Younger and Ruth Gatch. You can get all the info on them from http://www.familysearch.com (remember this is not a documentation and a great deal of it was submitted by group sheets) Just type in the parents names in the parents field and leave all else blank. This will give you all of their children. I am trying to find parents of this Henry, so if you find them, do tell! Let me know if this is yours and who are his descendants? Thanks and good luck... 2. What a fantastic web site! You and I corresponded about 5 years ago in email. At that time you were collecting all the Youngers, and I was only to Henry John Younger from Nodaway County, MO. You helped me quite a bit. As for my Kerns, I am doing quite a bit better, I am back to Michael Karn/Kern b 1730 son of Nicholas Kern and Catherine Engen. Went into DAR on him. Thanks, Donna

    3. Wilma H., The weather out here has been awful, unless you like the heat (100 deg) and muggy air. I am hoping for some nice days when my husband takes the 10 year old to Chicago for 2 weeks to see grandparents. My older daughter and I plan of trapsing around Clay and Jackson to a few cemeteries, which includes over here in Liberty where Milton may be buried. Have digital camera-will travel. If I get any shots I will have them online for all to grab if they want them at my website. So far I have been working hard on the James lines and have only begun on the Youngers, aside from what Jim Chase and others have mailed to me. I have been lucky to retrieve some of the old sources and people have been kindly sending me what they had. If you have anyone buried in these counties do let me add them to my "name-to-look-for" list while I am about. They leave next week, so cross your fingers for cooler weather-else it may be a month before I go. Linda in KCMO ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilma C. 3. I am intrigued by the name of "Adam" for one of your William's children. I spotted an Adam Younger in Court Records, Augusta County, VA; Kellogg pg. 31. It was for a court martial to be held on Sept. 15, 1742. CAPT. HUGH THOMPSON'S DELINQUENTS RETURNED. A William Watkins was mentioned twice and then this Adam Younger...they missed appearing for a private muster. I've had this for a while and didn't know what to do with it until I saw your tree on FamilySearch. 3. Wilma N. I have correspondence from Mabel Motes (now deceased) and she wrote that her grandmother, Rebecca Ann Younger Taylor always tole that she was a 3rd cousin to Cole. Jay Younger sent a chart showing that the children of Alexander and Ellen London and the children of Henry W. Younger and B. Fristo were 1st cousins 3 times removed, which of course is the same as 3rd cousins. Claude Turney, grandson of Jasper Newton Younger told me that his grandfather told him that he (Jasper) was a 1st cousin, but I think he may have forgotten the "3 times removed". At any rate they must have been related, coming from so many sources. 2. To JohnDixon Thanks for the response. My William Younger was b.1816 in Ky. or N.C. and was a decendent from Scotland but I need info about his parent who would have been born about 1780 give or take 5 years.
