    3. Quite possibly true, but none of them were mentioned in his will -- they either grew up and moved away - died in infancy - or -- who knows, anybody's guess. ----- Original Message ----- From: Brownie MacKie <BMacKie1@compuserve.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 7:26 AM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Jesse Younger's children > Jesse married Martha Weatherford 25 years after he married Temperance. > Temperance must have had children. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Wilma Norton" <wilma@softcom.net> > To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 12:49 AM > Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Jesse Younger's children > > > > > > All I have are Martha's children. 1. [YOUNGER] Charles Younger, Meday Younger & J. Paul Wetherholt Document
    2. Clifford D. Younger, Sr.
    3. For JYG, Thanks for the Pension document. I'm home from work and have printed it out, but have some comments and questions. Heres what I can figure out: _______________________________________________________ Name of Soldier Younger, Charles Name of Applicant Widow Younger, Meday Minor Wetherholt, J. Paul (Gdn) Service E 9 WVA Inf B 1 WVA Vet Inf Date of Filing Class Application No. Certificate No. State from which filed ??????? Invalid 1061028 827,892 WVA ??????? Widow 1726843 Ohio ??????? Minor 1726843 A-3-18-33 Ohio Attorney B.L. Meighen ??????? XC 2 653 617 _______________________________________________________ Okay, this is what I know: "Younger, Charles" is Charles Henry Younger Jr born 1 Jan 1844 died 15 Aug 1932, four year Civil War Veteran. "Younger, Meday" is his fourth and last wife, fourty years younger in age than Charles, mother of nine, the youngest of whom was a 16 year old female, named Frances, at the time of Charles death. Frances was 'mentally deficient' and due to being a minor at her fathers death, was eligible to draw his Civil War pension. This she did from Sep 1932 until Sep 1977 when she passed away. "Wetherholt, J. Paul". ??? I haven't a clue as to who he is. Is he a 'MINOR' as in age or a 'MINER" as in coal ??? The '(GDN)' that follows his name: is he Meday's Guardian or is she his Guardian ? The "service" is correct, these are the two units he served with. The first application was done by Charles some years prior to his death by the same Attorney. He was infirm and crippled up from war wounds, prison time in Andersonville during the war, 14 years in Moundsville State Prison for murder and other assorted jail time for small misc crimes. The certificate number 827,892 was his number assigned to his file by the Department of the Army. When the Veteran's Administration was started, his Army file was converted over and given the XC 2 653 617 number. This number was also used during the entire time that Frances Younger collected benefits. I have a complete copy of this file obtianed from the VA and it is 800 and some odd pages long, very interesting reading !!!!! The other two filings under application number 1726843 are totally new info to me. SO........where did you copy this form from ??? Any idea to whom or where I write for a copy of the last two files ??? The four portions that I indicated with "??????", can you read that info on your copy and fill in the blanks for me ??? Also in the top right hand corner above Charles name, is that blob a page number ??? Thanks again for the help and assistance. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. CY

    3. Same family. Two different census dates, two different kids giving the information, and two different census takers......can you imagine how hard it must have been to do the census before computers? Door to door...boundaries changing...dumb census takers who didn't know what their boundaries were. Etc. They also took the census from anybody in the house who was willing to give information. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JYG" <jyg@kc.rr.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 1:08 AM Subject: [YOUNGER] Two Thomases/ Two Elinors > > Can someone tell me where these belong? 3. Hi,Bob, John Henry, Williamson, and William were already in TN when Armistead touched down there briefly (I didn't know he'd gone to TN at all; I thought he went to AR first) then went on to AR. Deeds point to this, as they were always appointing Armistead their attorney in VA. Wilson Cage or Fielding Cage took the boys to TN after Mary Bomar died. They were still babies. Williamson lived first in Gibson County before moving to Carroll. William moved later to AR (I think that's correct). John Henry went to MS and married Lucy Lanier. Williams talks in his diary about going to meet Armistead, but comes back and says Armistead didn't show up. Then later he says that Armistead didn't show up, because he wasn't able to cross the swamp. "July 13, 1860. The second day of this month, in the afternoon, I left home to go to Memphis to meet Brother Armistead. He failed to come. From what cause I cannot as yet tell. When I hear I will record it. Heard from Bro. Armistead. The cause of his not meeting me was he could not cross Cash swamp in Arkansas." Did you know that James left Armistead his carved watch? And then I think it was passed down to James Williamson. I think that watch is in Dallas in my cousin's safety deposit box. She's "keeping it in the family.." I'm trying to get her to put it in a museum in AR or Browning Museum in Carroll County. She's had a lot to deal with this past five months, so I'm not pushing the issue right now. I have copies of letters written from Armistead to James Williamson. Did I send you those? If I didn't, do you want them? I'll make copies and send them to you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Younger" <byounger@onemain.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2001 10:13 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Can anyone place these? > > I understand that Armistead, my gg grandfather, left Halifax, Virginia and > some of the relatives went with him to Carroll County, TN. 3. I originally sent this a few days ago, guess its worth repeating: Found in one of the many 'Piles" on my desk, may be of interest to some of you: From Annie Kenney Box 342 Slaton, Tx 79364 TO Clifford Dean Younger Sr 2118 Hovington Circle West Jacksonville, Fl 32246 Aug 11, 1995 Dear Mr. Younger, There was a message on our genealogy BBS saying that you were compiling a data base on the YOUNGER surname. Samuel Younger Kelsick is my great grandfather. One of his brothers descendants gave me a copy of several pages of Kelsick genealogy from either a book or pamphlet, THE KELSICK FAMILY OF ENGLAND, NORTH AMERICA AND THE ISLE OF ANTIGUA. This was given to her by her mother and she does not know where she got it but it seems to have been written by someone who had been to England in the early 1960's. In this material there was a Captain Richard Kelsick born about 1687 (a resident of White Haven, England) who married an Eleanor Younger. She was the daughter of Joseph Younger and Elizabeth Crosthwaite. There are several Captain Richard Kelsicks in the Kelsick family. Most of these, it seems from this information, were owners of sailing vessels. You will find this same line in the Mormon data under ENGLAND. It is exactly the same as the materials I have. I hope this is of some value to you. Let me know if you need any other data. If I remember correctly I am a descendant of Captain Younger Kelsick. Sincerely, Signed Annie Kenney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brownie MacKie" <BMacKie1@compuserve.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2001 6:18 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Kelsick notes > You don't want to hear this...but maybe they don't tie in. ???? 3. E-mail is cyounger@mediaone.net He did not marry a fifth time. You have his fourth wife, just have the name a little scrambled. Her name was Amelia, but she went by Meday. I have no idea about Wetherholt, she might have remarried after charles died in 1932. She was 40 years his junior in age. Looking forward to what you have found. Thanks in advance.
