I really hope this doesn't start anything, but I started on this Younger list with a blank page, so I am way behind most of you here. So, please indulge me in this serious question. Mary (Bomar) Younger did indeed write her will, as published, and there is no doubt of that. But, is there a record of her death? As we know many people wrote their Wills and lived long afterwards. Now, why do I ask? -1850 VA Halifax County, Northern District (024) 360/363 17 Sep Mary Younger 67 f $3000 VA [born abt 1783, as was Mary Bomar] Albert M. Clark 30 m overseer VA Living next door is a George Bomar, age 53 and wife Nancy. Is this just a coincidence, or who is this particular Mary Younger? I am not, repeat NOT, trying to state this woman is Mary Bomar Younger, but you can see why she can appear to be, without my knowledge of her death. Lastly, if she is not Mary Bomar Younger, can you place this Mary Younger??? Living in her general area (pgs 22, 23, 24) are, Robert Younger, Joel Younger, Martha Younger. Thanks. Linda in KC

Bob, I "think" you got that from me, way back when I thought they were one and the same. Found out they are not. There is a William who married Patience ?? and a William who married Mary "Molly" Watkins. Two different William's and like Brownie said, no one is entirely sure where the William/Patience Younger fit into the line. And Brownie, the Pedigree Resource Files are from the LDS Church - which doesn't make them right. They also are family group records submitted by researchers like all of us, and unless there is something to back them up, to be taken "with a grain of salt". To clarify - so that no one will be confused - or feel obligated to defend themselves against my (Willie Hillman) comments which are as follows: Halifax County VA Deed Book 29, p. 485 22 July 1820 I, Polly Younger, Halifax County, in consideration of the natural love and affection I have for my son, John Henry Wilson Younger, I so convey and make over one piece of same for Mrs. Huddleston's lifetime, also one bed, one cow, four yearlings, a dozen pewter plates, one powder dish, etc. - and anything that may be coming to me from William Sydnor as administrator of Williamson Younger's estate, if any. Also anything that my father's deed does not call for, I by these presents do warrant and convey the same property for the use of the above mentioned John Henry Wilson, his heirs and assigns forever free from the claims of any person or persons. The condition of the above obligation is that if the above John Henry Wilson should die without heirs, then the same property shall go to my friend, Milton Cage, the father of the above John Henry Wilson Younger. Witnesses: Joseph H. Fuqua, John Cage, Dudley Glass, Winifred Fuqua. I have no desire to make Brownie angry nor do I have any vested interest in the outcome of this discussion. It is my interpretation of the above that a man named Cage (if there was a typographical error) is the father of John Henry Wilson Younger. All I am asking is concrete documentation rather than hypotheses for his parentage. I can not accept family legends for his relationship - whatever it may be. Until I see something concrete it will remain my interpretation. When that is produced I will happily make any necessary changes to my data. Please, can we not have a civil dialogue based only on documentation? That's what we are supposed to be about - clarification and refinement of the data.

I would- but I get emails from people needing help. It isn't what I want to do that gets me nutty. But while helping someone I get side-tracked on another line that I wasn't looking at at that moment. Its all so interesting, I sometimes get caught up in something that has neither anything to do with my book or personal genealogy. It's all fun, just gets crazy at times and that's when I start knitting sweaters! :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brownie MacKie" <BMacKie1@compuserve.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 6:08 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Marcus Younger > "I think I shall go mad by winter." Focus, focus; that's the solution. > Decide what you want to concentrate on and focus on that only.
From: Mary Ellen Williams Carlton [Pedigree Resource File - Compact Disc #1] Leah Younger m James Wyatt and they had a son Younger Wyatt who m. 23 Dec 1809 Halifax, Va, Polly Dillon. I think they got his parents mixed up, but will definitely look into this. I have so many things to look into, I think I shall go mad by winter! :) Ms Carlton has her as daughter of Marcus and Susannah. She also has Leah marrying James Wyatt on the same day as listed below. They list no sources online but I think I have this CD. I can look into it if you would like me to do that to see if sources were listed but that is doubtful. John Wyatt m 25 Jan 1790 Halifax, Va, Leah Younger SOURCE: -Halifax County, Virginia Marriage Index. [Wyatt-Younger] She is listed as daughter to William Younger and Mary Watkins.
