    3. Got on this list in the first place to concentrate on the difference between the two Williams of Halifax. Would like for one of you to work with me on this. I think it's necessary. Received a gedcom from a young descendant this a.m. who has William married to "Patience Mary" and has lumped all children together. There are several people who have done this. But it's not accurate, and some of us claiming William, son of Thomas, may be decidedly off base. One of the Williams had only daughters. William may be son of noone in Halifax at all. Either that, or Thomas named two sons William. I will be focusing on this problem for a while, so if anybody wants to join in, please feel free to do so. Brownie

    3. The William, who married Patience[surname?], who received Thomas's carpenter's tools in Thomas's will, is the only "documented" son of Thomas. And Thomas named only one William in his will. So... where did William, who married Mary Watkins come from, and who were his parents?

    3. I have seen only two Williams listed on both the tax lists and the 1790 census. One with seven white souls and one with six white souls. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 1. [YOUNGER] Rebecca Younger
    2. JYG
    3. Ok, there was "a" Rebecca Younger who married John Smith 21 Apr 1818 Chatham, Nc. It isn't necessary for her to be a Younger, she may have been a Younger widow. The fact is that she did exist. 1. Rebecca Mc Caslin m 1792 Chatham, John Younger. Did he die bef 1818? Then this would be a candidate, actually the only one I could find. 2. There was a John Smith in the 1812-1814 Muster Rolls, Chatham County (1814) 3. There was a John Smith in the 1840 census, Chatham, county, Nc. pg 165 4. There was a John F. 3. Wilma N- Well I didn't do too badly on the children, most of them I had right. BUT, I have the following leftover. Can you find them a home? I have no idea where they came from :( poor dears! Rebecca Younger b 1790; m John Smith <thats all!> Robert Younger b 1 Oct 1789 Chatham, Nc <ditto> I did find this you may want to change, altho not a biggie: 1850 census for William David Younger should read: pg 204 and house number 719/719 I checked the census to make sure. Do you have any idea where/who/why Thomas 1791-1878 was dubbed Harrison? I removed it, but still wonder what it might have meant to the person who wrote it in the first place. Is there any info on Rachel Hendrick, and do we know her rightful name? Thanks again Wilma. Linda in KC

    3. Very true. Its like that old saying about something being as plain as the nose on your face. We can see these names and dates over and over and then suddenly somthing is so obvious.... like yesterday I had a death date 100 years before the poor lady was born! I may have never caught it, and yet looking at it someone would "hopefully" see it was a typo!!! :) I am really having fun working on this list, and most of the names have nothing to do with Cole Younger's line, but its so... well... fulfilling I guess is the word. It's like putting a puzzle together and seeing the pieces fit into place. 3. Wilma you are too thorough not to notice, I knew you would :) and thanks for all the help with this bunch. I hope I am getting them fixed right. There are so many Youngers now in my files! 3. Bob, He stated that he was indebted to a good friend, Ellen Trube, for a lot of his information. It seems that I have in another place that he also corresponded with Margaret Hutchins (if I remember how her name is spelled). I think she is the one whose material Willie sorted, etc. He wrote it in story form to his daughter, Ellen. What I wrote is in part excerpts of this particular letter and part paraphrased because it was rather long. I am certain I have a copy of another letter that takes up where this one left off if my memory serves me right. 3. I found the marriage of Thomas to Rachel Hendrick in three different sources -- two said HENDRICK and one said KENDRICK -- I opted to go with two out of three. I seem to remember vaguely that someone checked Georgia records and found both surnames -- so -- who knows for sure? ----- Original Message ----- From: Wilma Norton <wilma@softcom.net> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 17, 2001 10:28 PM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Thomas Younger-Mary Nalle > I fixed the census note -- I don't have a Rebecca mar to John Smith in my > file. 3. I fixed the census note -- I don't have a Rebecca mar to John Smith in my file. I have a Robert H. born 1784 in Halifax VA - prob. not same. I've seen others attach Harrison to Thomas (1791) - don't have any idea of where it originated and have never seen any documentation to support it. ----- Original Message ----- From: JYG <jyg@kc.rr.com> To: <YOUNGER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 17, 2001 10:09 PM Subject: [YOUNGER] Thomas Younger-Mary Nalle > Wilma N- > > Well I didn't do too badly on the children, most of them I had right.
