My, I haven't seen this much activity in some time. Armistead is my gg Grandfather. He was white, He moved from Halifax some time between 1843 and 1847. He joined his brother Williamson there and stayed about 10 years before moving on to Stone County. William A. Younger (1815) Virginia m Elizabeth Martin (1824) Virginia, married Halifax, April 17, 1838. Listed in Carroll County Census of 1850. I have not, to date, connected this William A to the rest to the Youngers in Halifax. To which there are a great deal of Youngers there and a fortunately a lot of records. Not that the above is any solution, but believe it needs some work. I just haven't had the time in the past few years. Bob Younger

I know Joshua Younger and the Halifax line are not connected .It was just the lady I talked to wanted to be related to the Younger gang and I couldn't tell her I was afraid she wasn't. I gave her the Threaded Archives address and I was hoping someone would tell her that she probably wasn't related. But going on the information she gave me, Halifax and Scotland and that was about it. Leads me to believe.... I did tell her about the DNA project.

Yes he is listed as Alex in the 1870 census. We have the same information except for a couple of daughters names. Mary is the eldest and Mollie is a nickname for her. If it was leased, then whoever was "in charge", so that could be more dicey. You're referring to the 1840 census? If so, I'm inclined to believe it was him as there are two female children under 5 in the household, and he and Rebecca had two small girls before 1840. One born 1837 and the other 1839. And I knew you knew he was white - it was someone else who asked about his color. Memory's not always reliable! Have you found a marriage date for Rebecca Crew's parents? I have them as John and Rebecca Crews, but no marriage date. The only John and Rebecca Crews I found in the Halifax marriages I have was John to Rebecca Sparrow on December 8, 1829, which would be too late to have been Rebecca who married Armistead parents. There is a John Crews, Sr. age 63 VA living in 1850 Halifax with his son, John Jr. and his wife, Rebecca.
