    3. Back to this source for a moment. This also seems pretty clear cut to me. That Thomas Younger was guardian to children of Alexander Younger, one of which was Alexanders daughter Susannah. Essex County Will Book p. 115,116 19 Dec. 1732 Thomas Younger was made guardian to James, Jannett, and Susannah, infant orphans of Alexander Younger, dec'd. If it were me, in order to verify the wording, I would search for a copy of this record. Seems like a valuable piece of documentation to me. And with the Will book volume and page number, seems like the difficult part is done. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 11:55 AM Subject: Re: [YOUNGER] Chancery Suit #1842-036 Please acknowledge,if you recei ve > Sorry if I offend anyone but all this document proves is that Thomas > Younger had chidlren by two wives ,It does not suggest that Sussanah is > his daughter/sister ist says she is a sister to some of the chidlren and a > half sister to others. 1. [YOUNGER] Susannah
    2. I firmly believe that Susannah, daughter of Alexander, was placed under guardianship of Thomas, her brother, and became his "daughter" by virtue of guardianship.

    1. [YOUNGER] John and Ann Younger Price
    2. This question was raised: Does anyone know if John and Ann Younger Price or one of their Heirs went to Surry Nc? I don't have any information that they did. John Price died before June 1772 probably in Essex County. 4 Jun 1772 - Virginia Gazette, Pg 3 Col 3. Ann Price advertised 300A for sale in Essex, Close to church, and Rappahannock, and Grist mill, and Landing. Sold 300A to Thomas Bowler for 186 lbs, 13 Jul 1772. _________________ Cumberland Co VA 23 Oct 1769 John Price purchased 415A on Green Creek from Ambrose Wright. In his will this land was to be divided between his son-in-law Stark Boulware, and his wife Ann. At the death of Ann the land was to be split between his four sons. 23 Nov 1777 Ann executed in Halifax Co VA a document giving her portion of the 415A to her son, John, for her lifetime. 28 Apr 1777 Stark Boulware sold his portion of this land to brother-in-law, Richard Price. August 1781 John Price (son of Thomas, son of Ann) of Caswell Co NC sold his portion of the undivided land in Cumberland Co VA to his uncle John. I think that Ann died about this time. __________________________ Document recorded Charlotte Co 1 Oct 1781 - dated 9 Feb 1781 Ann Price of the county of Cumberland to my daughter Susannah Richardson a negro woman Sarah. This is the slave John lent his wife Ann for life that was to go to daughter Susannah at wife's death. __________________________ Of John and Ann's children I know or think I know that: 1. Thomas Price m. Mary [--?--]. He died by July 1773 Cumberland Co VA. Only identified child is my gggfr John of Caswell Co NC who moved 1812 to Greene Co TN. There were other children. 2. John Price m. Anne DeJarnett. He died 1817 Cumberland Co VA. Large family. 3. William Price seems to have died by 1781 dsp 4. Richard Price m. Mary DeJarnett. He died 1781 Cumberland Co VA. Two children. His wife remarried. 5. Catherine Price married Stark Boulware. I think they went from Cumberland Co VA to Halifax Co and on into NC maybe then to KY 6. Susannah m. Mr. Richardson by 1781. Pat Finnell

    2. No, I don't have anything on Essex marriage records. In my file, I noted a source for the children of John Dillard and Elizabeth as "Christ Church Parish Register of Middlesex Co. VA" and just now when I tried to go back and find it again, I can't! Makes me so mad when I don't note the web page address too. I assume it said children of John and Elizabeth, but I can't be for sure. Wish I could find it again!WilmaWilma and Lu The Christ Church Parish records are on line on ancestry.com I will see if I can find it if not I will take a look at the register again in the Richmond Library.I work in Richmond and live in Cumberland Virginia My Name is Jerry Dagenhart I am very much of the opinion that Susannah Younger married Thomas Pinion ca 1745-1750 and migrated to Surry and Later Wilkes Nc. The Fact Thomas and his family were in Halifax Virginia is very Promising as many of my Nc ancestors were in Henry and Pittsylvania county Virginia where they ahd migrated from points east in Virginia, they then made the migration to Chatham and eventually west to Surry and Wilkes NC. Thomas Pinion/Pennels son Reuben named a son Younger Pinion and his son John named a son Alexander Pinion .Circumstantial evidence I know but they ahd to have been named for someone.

    2. I meant Alexander not Samuel. The document you sent speaks about Thomas Youngers daughter suzannah not Samuels(Alexander's sorry!),I read them both four tiems and again they refer to the chidlren of Thomas Younger not the Children of Alexander Younger. The Suzannah I am tracing was Thomas' sister and a daughter of Alexander I did not see anything in the Halifax court Record that indicated Susannah Younger the sister of Thomas had died it says the sister of William Thoma's son

    2. This is concerning Thomas Youngers daughter Susannah not Alexander And Rebeccas daughter although I am glad to see they were in Halifax county. If Thomas Pinions wife Susannah was a Younger they would have passed through Halifax and Pittsylvania in Route to Nc. Their NC neighbors Rowland Judd and William Tyree were in Pittsylvania County in the 1760's. I am glad to see Susannah was still a minor in 1732 when her Brotehr Thomas was appointed her guardian. 1. [YOUNGER] Christ Church Records, Etc.
    2. In the Parish Records published by DAR there is only one John Dillard - born 30 March 1739 son of Edward and Martha. This book is notorious for its errors and spaces in copying and in indexing. One would really need to go to a microfilm of the original and read the whole thing. I did read a good part of it a number of years ago but never again. But that isn't necessary in this particular instance as John Dillard is named as husband of Elizabeth (Younger) daughter of Alexander and Rebecca (Mills) Younger in 1732 in court records. Deed May 1753 Timothy Driscoll to John Price all his estate (realty and personal) in Virginia in consideration of a marriage promise sometime before his intermarriage with "my wife's daughter, Ann Younger and moving hereunto." By the way, the Vestry Book for South Farnham Parish 1739-1779 is being published as we speak by Heritage Books. I ordered a copy yesterday. I tried to read this ledger one time on microfilm and what a headache. Certainly the content won't be as useful as a Parish Register but hopefully there will be some useful tidbits in it. There is nothing helpful in the wonderful "Diary of Robert Rose" edited and annotated by Ralph Fall. Robert Rose was long time pastor of St. Anne's Parish. To me the 1/8th question still is not resolved. There were 8 children and the wife. Two of the children were to inherit land but not share in the personal property other than as listed in specifics in the will (guns cows). That equals six shares plus wife's share. If John died and one of the six children remaining was promoted to receive his real property share the will said that this new real property heir's old share in the personal property was to be divided between the others receiving personal property. So that would leave five shares plus the widow's share. I just don't get it. It is possible that Rebecca agreed to a child's share but it still doesn't add up. Was there a child not mentioned in the will? If an oldest son was not mentioned he would by law receive any land that was not disposed of by will plus a share in the personal property. (Laws of primogeniture and intestate property.) But Alexander was very careful to state what would happen if all his heirs died so I don't think he left a son's share to by disposed of by primogeniture laws. And I now realize there should not have been an older son as Alexander named by name the six children to receive personal property. Rebecca's share could have been figured at 1/4 and she had only drawn half of her due. I'm just trying to find a logical legal explanation for this strange accounting. I wish we could find the final settlement. Pat Finnell

    3. Concerning proof that Susannah was a daughter of Alexander, on July 18, 2001, part of Wilma Hillmans message was, Essex County VA Will Book 5, p. 152,153 Account for the administration of the estate of Alexander Younger dated 1727 This account provides the information that by 1727, Alexander's son John has died, his daughter Elizabeth has married John Dillard and the widow Rebecca has remarried to Timothy Driscoll. Essex County VA Will Book 5 p. 119, 120 15 Jan 1732 Thomas Younger is made guardian of Mary and Ann, infant orphans of Alexander Younger, dec'd. Samuel Gatewood and John Ferguson were bondsmen with Thomas. The document continues to reveal that he is also guardian to James Younger. p. 115, 116 19 Dec 1732 Thomas Younger was made guardian to James, Jannett, and Susannah infant orphans of Alexander Younger, dec'd. Concerning Susannah marrying John Dillard, on July 26 2001, part of Wilma Hillmans message was, John Dillard married Elizabeth, daughtr of Alexander and Rebecca Mills. As for the 1/8th there were eight legatees and Elizabeth or her heirs were entitled to her share.
