    3. Brownie, All Ideas are good ideas. Thomas's son Joseph Younger was arrested with Joseph Smith ( Mormon leader ) in Missouri . Things happen...lol.And then we had a GREEN who was arrrest for shooting a YOUNGER..And then of course we had the "Gang" & a few convicts who were arrested and transported early on. I think that just about covers all branches.......from all lines ......lol. Just goes to show anything is possible Leni :) --------------------------------- Now that's room service! This is his email addie, although I dont know how hard it is to get a reply. [email protected] Anyway, its just a couple of thoughts I thought might help. 3. We have to be specific here - there are too many Thomas, Mary and Joseph's! I have Joseph W. b. 1803 NC (m. Susanna McCurley) as the son of Thomas and Mary Nall, and therefore brother to Thomas who married Sarah GK Church. Is this what you have? 3. I agree that it is strange a baptism was not done for Thomas - I don't know what the rules were at the time - perhaps you had to have proof of death and there was none? I don't know. And, so far as I know the 1834 date is probably the date he went missing - and since it isn't a firm date, just the year, perhaps it was an estimate made some time afterwards when they had given up on him returning, or when word of the eagle buttons find was received at Mary's home. It's kind of strange that word of the eagle buttons ever got to the family. How would anyone know where to send word if there was no identification on the clothes, and no body was found? All very exceedingly strange. All I've ever seen was a reference to "family lore" about him taking horses south to sell and Mary making him a new coat with shiny gold eagle buttons, and buttons being found in a cave and the assumption that it was him and that he had been killed or died in some sort of accident. If it happened in a populated area, you'd think there would have been some kind of newspaper story written about the body being found in a cave. Of course if it was in a rural area, perhaps word never got far enough to make the news. As to your other questions, I have no idea. I don't know what kind of proof they needed for a death back then, if he had an estate that needed probating, if they even probated wills there at that time. It's all a big mystery. 3. Perhaps, old Thomas just disappeared....Mom and Dad had a friend who was a professor at Austin College. His name was Euclid Fant. Well, ole' Euclid drove to Dallas one day and was never seen nor heard from again. His daughter was my sister's age. I got in touch with her daughter not too long ago, because I had a letter written by Euclid's wife, and I thought the grandchildren would want it. They never did find out what happened to him...never found one clue. Except for the car parked in the train station parking lot....hmmmmm. Leni, if you focus on finding Thomas hard enough and long enough, a clue will surface one of these days. And, by the way, "down south" could mean Mexico. 3. Hi Fran, That was cute ! Could very well be true. They were right in the middle of it that is for sure. But it is funny when you think about it,that Mary Younger Mayberry is the only one who moved to Utah. Joseph Younger had left the church by then and had broken off with the main branch.I have done some reasearch on the Mayberry's as you know & they were pretty involved when they arrived in Utah. Funny how things turn out. Somewhere I have some news articles on the Mayberry's that I got from the Utah on-line Newspaper archives data- base. If I run across them any time soon I will send them on to you. I love to hear the little tid bits that were passed down ..They are all new clues for me. 3. Yes, that is what I thought I said -- Thomas and Mary (Nall) Younger had a son, Thomas, and the son married Sarah GK Church. Thomas and Sarah GK Church had a daughter named Mary E. Maybe that is where the confusion comes from? I've never seen a record of Thomas first marrying a woman named Mary E. Have you? Or we just discussing this because of a transcription? 3. I forgot, this Thomas supposedly died in a cave somewhere "down south" - so it's very likely no grave site will ever be found. We're probably spinning our wheels looking for one. South of Tenn. would either be Miss., Alabama or Georgia. From all I've gathered so far, it seems that no one knows for sure where he died, they just found some eagle buttons in a cave and assumed it was from his coat. If all that was found was some buttons, it's very likely no body was ever brought home for burial. Wilma

    3. In 1860 Cedar Co. MO census, Mary (Nall) Younger was living in the home of her son, Thomas who married Sarah (Church) Younger, so there is no way that this Mary and Sarah were married to the same man. In 1850 census, Mary (Nall) Younger was still in Williamson Co. TN and I think that is where we need to look for a burial place for her husband, Thomas. Wilma
