No I don't have anything to prove this is the same William who married Elizabeth Martin. One avenue I would suggest for study would be their second son, James M. If you can find anything anywhere that would give James middle name, and if that name were James Martin, I believe that would surely tie them together. Several of the Younger children have had their mother's maiden name as a middle name. Maybe that is the case here too. And a thorough search of the Carroll County court and land records might yield results. Bible records would be another great resource. Wilma, In re-reading Tommie's death certificate, the informant, Miss Younger states that Tommie's mother's name is Miss Martin! I don't know why I didn't make that connection before but that is the additional detail that I needed to feel confident that William A. and Elizabeth Martin are indeed John T. Younger's parents. Also, note that Tommie's father is referred to as Alexander Younger. I also see that it states his name as Alexander Young not Younger (I think that is probably my typo. And any other info you can share will be appreciated. As for parents of William Alexander b. 1815 - Brownie could be right. He may be the son of Williamson and Mary Bomar since he seems to have followed the same immigration path as some of the other men of that family. You may be right as to parentage -- BUT - the William who married Elizabeth Martin does have a middle name - "Alexander". In 1850 he is listed as William A.; in 1860 he is also listed as William A.; in 1870 he is listed as Alex and in 1880 he is listed as W.A. He was born in Virginia and married in Halifax then migrated to Carroll Co. TN -- so it is possible he is a son of Williamson and Mary Bomar. Some of their other children took the same migration path. But, moving the William who married Pricilla Jones to William and Mary Watkins line -- what do you base this on? The both start out in VA then move on to Carroll Co. TN - and this William goes on to Independence Co. AR. William Alexander and Elizabeth Martin seem to have remained in Carroll County. I'VE GOT IT!!! The William Younger (bn 1803) who married Priscilla was son of Mary Watkins and William Younger, Sr. The William Younger (bn 1814) who married Elizabeth Martin in 1838 was son of Williamson/Mary Bomar/Younger. Neither one of these Williams had a middle name, however. The "A" was confusing, because Armistead named a son "William Armistead" and Williamson named a son "William Armistead." I don't know what happened to Armistead's William, but I know that Williamson's William is buried at Rock Island, Ill Confederate prison camp. He died during the Civil War, and I have his papers. Martha, To answer your question....No Joseph Younger who was arrested with Joseph Smith did not go to Utah. He left the original Mormon Church & later joined the Reformed Latter Day saints (RLDS) .That was after he joined up with Jesse Strang & later Charles B.Thompson and their groups.After Joseph Smith was killed there was plenty of fighting amongst the group as to who would lead the church.Many little splinter groups formed out of the original elders.And Joseph Younger followed a few of them.He himself was an elder in the original church & later was with the new branches also.Joseph Younger was also a Doctor and traveled all over the place on his mission work. Taking his family with him as he went in the early years. Joseph was the son of Thomas Younger & Mary "Polly " Nall. Now Joseph's sister Mary Younger who married Mayberry did go to Utah with her family. In the 1840's The Younger's and the Mayberry's were all were in Nauvoo Illinois together. Mary Younger Mayberry went out with Brigham Young to Utah in 1846 .Their mother Mary Nall Younger was actually part of the women's relief society in Nauvoo. Sorry guy's, I thought paf stood for (personal ancestral files) ...I am not to good with this computer stuff...lol. ( now I feel kind of dumb :) ) I meant gedcom files. Another cousin who I met on line, sent me her files on another branch of the family.So I could read it. I found a few clues for both of us.I had stuff she did not...in my papers & She had names of towns etc. in hers that led me in another direction that I may have over looked. And bingo ! I found who I was looking for. I think it is great fun to sit and read about history in general. I have hundreds of papers on Younger's who I am sure I will never connect to the family.But I keep them anyway... you just never know.Now that I finally have a scanner I will have to start scanning them all.So I can have them ready when needed. I was just hoping I might see something that would be a break through in my brick wall. I have been trying to find my missing G-ma for years.And in the mean time have had to buy another big file cabinet.to store all the things I find about everyone else's relatives ....lol...just my luck.
