    3. Good idea. I also thought of requesting a death certificate for Joseph T's sister, Sarah Younger Church, d. 1928 to see who is given as her father. Or maybe the children of William and Lucinda although I don't know who they all are. I read that William D. Jr. was the youngest of 12 children. I have at least 5 by Elizabeth and there could have been more before her death in 1852. I have a photocopy of Joseph T's original death certificate but the person giving the info could have said Wm. D which sounds a lot like G and the name was recorded wrong. Anything is possible which make the hunt frustrating at times. Thanks for your help. 3. I think we'd need to research Maury Co. TN records - at least that is where they were living when they died. William D. and both his wives are buried there, William and Elizabeth in Goshen Cem. and Lucinda on her grandfather's farm. Another good resource would be newspapers. According to the Maury Co. TN Cemeteries book, W. D. had one of the largest attended funerals in that county. Ca. June 1889. 3. I will let you know if I find a source for "David" - all I ever saw on census records was just William with no middle initial. The only other source I have is the FOTY book which is a compilation of the research done by Margarete Hutchins and which was sorted and put into a book by Wilma Hillman. In the book he is identified as "William D." Below is what it says. Whoever Charlotte Fogey Shenk is will be perhaps the only way to find out if she had a source for the middle initial of "D". Plus, it's also possible that whoever gave the information for the death certificate didn't know for sure what the middle name was. Do you have the original death certificate? If only a transcription, then whoever transcribed it could have misread it. "In the FOTY Research of Margarette Hutchins I find this: BIOGRAPHIES Pg. 30 - Source: Charlotte Forgey Shenk, Pg. 31 (Location unidentified) W.D. Younger I'll speak first of the Mr. Younger that I knew personally. Mr. "Billy" (W.D.) son of William and Lucinda M. Witherspoon Younger. Mr. Younger was born 29 May 1857. He was the youngest of twelve children: eight boys and four girls. Thomas Younger was the father of William D. (Sr.) Thomas married Polly, daughter of Maj. Nalls. Thomas and his family came with a large party over the mountains from North Carolina. They first settled near Mt. Pleasant but owing to the cruelties of the Indians to a former settlement there, they moved in 1810 to Williamson Co. TN. It was here Thomas died. From there, William and his family moved to Leiper's Creek and from there to Goshen. The next move was to Santa Fe. Here they purchased a large farm. William D. was born and raised here. William D. was the second husband of Lucinda. She married first Raleigh Dodson. Their son was R. P. Dodson of Columbia, a farmer, merchant, livery stable and hotel man. It is interesting to know that Lucinda M. Younger is buried beside her twin sister Louisa Caughron in the old family graveyard. Lucinda was the second wife of William Younger. His first wife was Elizabeth Wakefield, daughter of Joseph and Margarette Church Wakefield. William, born 1809, died 1889; Elizabeth b. 1814, died 1852. In the same graveyard Mary Ann Margarette Oakley, wife of William F. Oakley and daughter of William and E. Younger, 1831-1852. Three children of William and Elizabeth bear the dates 1834, 1836 and 1841. Another daughter was Sarah Younger Church 1837-1928. William D. Younger, Jr. married first M. E., daughter of Dabney and Mary C. Ladd Byrd. Their children: Eugene, Ella, Raleigh, Tennie, Dale (moved to Columbia), Loraine (died early), Horace D., Haskell, W. C. (Cecil). The Youngers at one time lived in the Church place in Sante Fe. They moved to Duplex near Spring Hill. There they purchased a big farm. The family scattered and Mr. Younger moved to Columbia. He married second Carrie Alexander. In Rose Hill we see these three stones: Younger, W.M. "Little Bill" 1858-1950 (should be W.D. b 29 May 1857) Younger, Etta 29 Sept. 1866-28 June 1902 Younger, Carrie Alexander, wife of W.D. Younger 1869-1938. 3. No, I'm sorry that I don't. I was given that info some time ago. I am confused because the death certificate for Joseph T. Younger gives his father's name as Wm. G and his mother's maiden name as Wakefield. The info you provided says William David was married to Elizabeth Wakefield. So many Youngers with the same name!!! I am just trying to get the correct lineage for Joseph T. and thought maybe the Wm. G I am looking for was the son of Joseph. You have William Gray married to Mary Sharp so he is not the correct person. It appears there is either a mistake on the death certificate or with the name "David". I will have to keep checking. If you should find where the name David came from please let me know. I believe David Gonce supplied the data to Stone County Arkansas Geneaology Socity when they agree to re-publish Armisted Younger book in their files. My data shows: Thomas Younger, b Mar 10 1761 Chatham County, NC, d Oct 1834 Williamson County, TN, m Mary Nall b Dec. 25, 1768 Fayetteville, NC, d Feb 1, 1864 Cedar County, MO buried Younger Cemetary. 3. William Mark Younger has a gedcom on William Younger and Priscilla Jones. The parents of William are Williamson and Mary Bomar Younger, so the other who married Elizabeth Martin is probably the son of William and Mary Wakins Younger. Willliam #1 and Priscilla moved to AR to be near brother Armistead. 1. [YOUNGER] John (L. or T.) Younger
    2. Clifford Younger
    3. Does anyone have anything on a John (middle initial L or T)(census taker had really bad handwriting) Younger, born about 1875 in Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia. Mothers name Elizabeth A. Burden. Father is supposedly Charles Henry Younger Jr., he claimed and raised all three boys as his. He was in prison in Moundsville for murdering his first wife from 1868 until January 1882. He married Elizabeth 1 week after his release (she was wife three, my great grand parent, as was Charles). Mike was born in December 1873 and Judson on 07 March 1876. Family oral history says that Elizabeth worked at the prison and prison records show that Charles worked in the "wagon shop" as a carpenter and at times had "trusty" status. So I guess it is possible that Charles did in fact father the three boys and this explains the marriage a week after his release. Charles was also suspected in the disappearance of his second wife, but you know what they say, "No body, no crime". :') He is found on the 1880 Marshall County WVa census at the age of 5, with his mother Elizabeth and two siblings. An older brother Micheal Oliver Younger and an younger brother Judson Louis Younger (my grandfather). As there are no surviving copies of the 1890 census, I have been unable to find him at age 15. I have not been able to find him ANYWHERE in the 1900 census or later census's. I have not found any death record ANYWHERE of him. What little oral family history we have of him, indicates that at the age of 15 or 16, one day he saddled up a horse and headed WEST. He has/was never been heard from again. 1880 census lists his race as Mulatto (same as his brothers, mother and her parents). She and her parents moved to West Virginia from South Carolina in 1850. Oral history says they were slaves or descendants thereof who "bought" their freedom and moved north. In January of 1994, I tracked down a man in Nevada named Dave Goince, one of his relatives (a Minnie Gonce) had married a John Younger born around 1875 from the EAST. They married shortly after meeting, had a child soon after, then divorced. The Gonce family has no further idea of where he went or what happened to him. Family rumor states that he was "darker" than his borthers Mike and Judson, who passed as white all their lives and are listed as white on all census records from 1900 and later. His mother Elizabeth and her nine siblings all also listed as white on 1900 census and later, all married persons listed as white. Any help you can give or suggest will be appreciated. Last but not least, give thanks that you ain't related to my branch of the Younger's, but for the grace of God you could be as screwed up as we are...... CY
