    1. [YOUNGBLOOD-L] Josiah Youngblood
    2. Sharon
    3. Hi, I sent for the pension records for Josiah Youngblood who was in the 5th Tenn Cavalry, Company A... This Josiah was a veternary Surgeon ,a stage driver and a farmer. He volunteered in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 40 years old in 1862 and was born in Washington County, Georgia. I thought he might be the father of my Huston "Monroe" YOungblood who was also in the 5th Tenn Cavalry. But now I am not sure.. I would love to hear from others researching Youngblood's out of Georgia and Warren County Tennessee... 1. [YOUNGBLOOD-L] Youngblood/Pickett - Florida - 1817
    2. Jannie and Andrew Baker
    3. I'm new to the list, and like Kathy, I am also researching a connection between the Youngbloods and the Picketts. My GGGGrandfather, Daniel Youngblood was born in Florida in 1817. He died in Hillsborough County, FL in 1878. He married Cornelia Anne Pickett who was born in Florida in 1824. Census records from 1870 and 1880 show they were living in Hillsborough County at the time. They seven children: Taylor (b. 1849), Cornelia Anne (b. 1852), James (b. 1855), Samuel (b. 1858), John (b. 1860), Virginia (b. 1865) and Olivia (b. 1867). Does anyone know anything about this family? Thanks, Jannie

    3. I am trying to find out more about ? Youngblood, who married ? Pickett in the early 1800's. They had a son named John Seymour Pickett born about 1810 near Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The Pickett family had a plantation there called Picketville. I'd be glad to share what I have on the descendants in this family. Kathy Lee kmljtl@gte.net

    3. There is an entry in a book called Thomas Youngblood Family by Margaret Ann Cloys and Ollis Youngblood Smith, of Murray KY: "C.W. "Cad" Youngblood (1824-1880) b., Tennessee, 2)m. 1857 Nancy Burgess (1835-1880) b. Alabama. Both d. Lafayette County, MS. 1)m. 30 Jan1844 in Henry County, TN, by Robert Aycock, J. P., to Lucy F. Reed (1824-1855) b. VA." C. W. "Cad"s father was named Amos Caril Youngblood from Calloway County,, KY, who m. Elizabeth "Betsy" ____(1786-1870) b. VA, d. Lafayette County, MS. Amos' father was named John Youngblood, according to this source, but that is questioned by a later excellent Youngblood researcher. This book goes on to say that C.W. "Cad" had one known (to the author) child named Sarah Eva "Bettie" Youngblood, b. Oct. 20, 1852 in Lafayette County, MS. She m. Dec. 14, 1871, Robert M. McCain, b. Feb. 27, 1845 in MS. He d. July 16, 1922. Both buried in Union Grove Cemetery, Lafayette County, MS. Some in this Youngblood clan went on to Texas from Mississippi. "Cad" had a brother named William F. Youngblood who married Sarah J. Thweatt, and this Wm. d. in LafayetteCounty, MS. My Youngblood great grandmother's brother, who supposedly was a cousin once removed to "Cad" was named Hardy Bryant Youngblood. Hardy was born in 1851 in KY, and he and his family lived in KY and MO, though a number of Aunts and Uncles went to TX.. I do not find any Samuel's in this family. I can't find any connections, but thought I'd pass all that on. Seems like there should be a connection somewhere. kathy wrote: > Am seeking ANY information on my g-grandfather, Samuel Cad YOUNGBLOOD b. > 4 May 1850 in MS. 3. A fellow genealogist sent this to me. >From: Tom Niekamp <tpatella@as.net> EPIDEMICS: In case you ever wondered why a large number of your ancestors disappeared during a certain period in history, this might help. Epidemics have always had a great influence on people - and thus influencing, as well, the genealogists trying to trace them. Many cases of people disappearing from records can be traced to dying during an epidemic or moving away from the affected area. Some of the major epidemics in the United States are listed below: 1657 Boston Measles 1687 Boston Measles 1690 New York Yellow Fever 1713 Boston Measles 1729 Boston Measles 1732-3 Worldwide Influenza 1738 South Carolina Smallpox 1739-40 Boston Measles 1747 CT,NY,PA,SC Measles 1759 No. Amer. 3. Hi, I don't usually comment about this kind of thing, but I thought you might find my recent experience interesting. It was very nice. I belong to a HENLY list where a woman has shared her brother-in-law's battle with cancer over the past two or three months. She requested our prayers and asked if we could send cards and letters to encourage him. Just yesterday she informed us that he had lost his battle, which saddened me very much. Over the course of these past few months, I have not read even one negative response to her postings or requests. Of course, it didn't involve a hoax, but I think that Robert's motivation was sincere. Frankly, when I received the chain letter, I just deleted it and moved on. I had seen others like it on other lists. Sincerely, Pam Hatch P.S. While I've got your attention, does ANYONE have documented research on the original YOUNGBLOOD (or JUNG BLUT) ancestors to this country (besides you, Dorothy)? :)
