He married Volumnia Orso Xaupi on July 6, 1863, and after he died, she moved with her family to Ellis County, TX. William and Elizabeth also had their eldest son, Alfred Youngblood, b. 1829 in Greene County, TN, who also fought in the Civil War. He enlisted on the Union side with the 3rd MO Cavalry, and was killed at Patterson, MO. He was my great-great-grandfather. His wife and children remained in MO. and KY. Beverly Rich
Earlier I wrote that James M. Youngblood was in the MO infantry. In another record written by a descendant of his is the nonation that he was in "47 Mo CAV Missouri Calvary. Enlisted Sep 1861, discharged Aug. 1865. Perhaps this was his 2nd enlistment. James M. Youngblood, (middle name probably Mark), b. Dec. 16, 1833, m. Volumnia Orso Xaupi (b. 1836) on July 6, 1863. He died in June 24, 1879, she in 1911. After Dr. Youngblood's death, Volumnia moved with her children to Ellis County, TX, and she is buried there. Guy Xavier Youngblood m. Douglas Victor Holt, Guy Andrew, Edward Walter, and Joseph Martin. Meme "May" Youngblood Youngblood m. Dr. Crudgenton, and their children were: Marie, Kenneth, and Damien. No more is known about the children of James and Volumnia, though there is more on some of the grandchildren of Guy Xavier. Is there a match out there somewhere? Beverly Rich
Mr. Dance and Mr. Mangram have asked for more information about the James M.Youngblood in my Youngblood family, so here is what I have. He was b. Dec. 16, 1833 in Greene, TN. He was my great-great-great Uncle. He became a Surgeon for the Union Army in MO during the Civil War. He joined the Army when he foresaw a future war. He was already a physician, and early on he was put in charge of a hospital. Later, I believe he did some time on the front as a surgeon. He is listed as follows: FRS., 317, MO Infantry, Asst. Surgeon. Following the war he moved with his family to St. Louis, and had a busy practice there, and he was kind, and took care of many poor people without charging them. He died of some kind of liver ailment in his 40's, and I have a newspaper clipping stated that people hung sadly around his office building mourning his death for days afterwards. His wife and children moved to somewhere in the NW part of Texas. His wife was of French extraction, and had grown up in VA. Her name was Volumnia Orso Xaupi. They were married July 6, 1863. James parents were William Youngblood, and Elizabeth Garret Youngblood. Wm. was b.in SC ca. 1807. Elizabeth, b. ca 1811, was the dau. of Jacob Garret and Barbary Jack Garret. She was b. in Greene Co., TN. She and Wm. were m. Dec. 21, 1826 in Greene Co. TN. Wm. and Elizabeth died in the latter 1800's in Bollinger County, MO. They had 8 children besides James, who was the 2nd son. The others, in order of birth were: Alfred M., John G., Martin V., Barbary, Mary M., Wm. O.B., and Sarah A. Alfred also fought in the Union Army, and was killed at Patterson, MO the last year of the war. It appears that the three other sons fought for the South, and after the war was over they all moved to Texas, not too far from what is now the Dallas area. I must go now, but I will write again soon to tell you more about the family that James and Volumnia had. Beverly Rich
I am looking for any information on Margret Youngblood (full blooded Cherokee) who married William Wilson (full blooded Cherokee) in Georgia around 1800. They had one son that I know of: Robert Wilson who married Mary Horton and lived around Clarksville, AR. Any information will be appreciated. Joe
I was at a church this evening, Boulevard Baptist in Springfield, Missouri, where I saw a pic of a Reverend John B. Sharp. It was captioned "1920-1921" and he looked very old in it, at the minimum late 60's or even older. The cabinet was locked but I talked with the director of music (we were having my brothers practice for his wedding there tomorrow) and he said it shouldn't be a problem getting a photocopy made or whatever. Just curious if anyone knows who he is. I read something somewhere about a John Youngblood being a minister some time ago. But it escapes me now. Thanks!

To Gail Youngblood Gallagher: Have the Youngbloods from which you descended always been in PA? My Youngbloods were in TN, KY and MO until after the Civil War when most of them went to Texas. I ask because James Youngblood was a Civil War Surgeon for the Yankees. He was raised in KY and MO. He married a French woman whose family came from VA, and her name was Volumnia Orso Xaupi. They lived in St. Louis after the War until he died, at which time she moved with their children to Texas. One of their sons was named Guy Xavier Youngblood, born in 1866, and he had a son named George Xavier Youngblood in 1910. We do not know the names of all their descendants, and the name Xavier may have been passed on to other male descendants in this family. The descendants we know about lived out their lives in Texas. Could there be a connection? Beverly Rich

This was a pic sent to me by a lady in California. I am in Missouri. Its been over a year and a half, but I was curious who they were. She was hoping a relative of mine might recognize someone in the pic. I compared it to some pics back then but never found anything out. I put it on the web, take a peek if any of you can. Thanks! http://pages.prodigy.net/keveny/Youngblood.gif

I don't think anyone has had less information on a YOUNGBLOOD post, but I am feeling lucky, especially with the discussions surrounding TX YOUNGBLOODS. ? Emory's father ran a ferry on the Love Co., OK/TX border and her mother lived in Davis, OK around this time. ? YOUNGBLOOD died 1876 or before. No children that I know of. Can anyone help??? **Candace ***** Candace Gregory
firegrl@sierratel.com
FTM Home Page: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/r/e/Candace-L-Gregory/
Researching Gregory, Prater, Courtney, Williams, Wicker, Sandifer, Slaughter, Cain

Three of my Youngblood brothers came to Texas to Ellis County from SC by about 1875. Maybe we fit together. I am trying to track the ancestors of Joel Youngblood (b. 1807 SC) and Elizabeth (Betsey) Allen of the Greenville District of SC. Will be glad to share information.
