    2. Charles & Nancy Royall
    3. For those that find records that do not match. I have found the census and even death certificate to be wrong as many times as they are right. Most people 100 years ago and more did not know the year of their birth and even their age was approximate. As far as places of birth, I have a John A McLeod that on every census says a different place of birth for him. His grandson's death certificate says that his father was b Scotland. However he was b. Sabine Co TX. I have the birth records. Sooooo everything you find, do not accept it as absolute! Not until you find other documents to back it up. Use it as a tool to know where you MAY find some more records. Oh and by the way if you know A Scot never call them Scotch. They take offense at that A Scot is a person, while Scotch is a whiskey. 2. Just thought you all might like to consider the possibility of a late born family member. My brother was born when I was 21.....mom was 48. I married the son of a Youngblood who was born 18 years after his next sibling.....kinda shortens the limbs a bit, doesn't it? Happy thoughts. Kathy

    1. [YOUNGBLOOD-L] Native American Heritage
    2. Charles & Nancy Royall
    3. Proving your Indian Heritage With Your Teeth and Eyes >From "The Family Tree" Feb. 1997 If you have been unable to prove or disprove an old family tale concerning Indian ancestry, there may be a solution to your problem. An extremely rare mutation of the "Y" chromosome may be a genetic marker to the people that migrated to the Americas some 30,000 years ago. Stamford University researchers, using a new method of scanning genetic changes, have found a mutation that in the sample exists only in Indian populations in North and South America and in Eskimo groups. The lead author of the Stamford Research Study noted, "In only one chromosome in all the world was there this change and all Native Americans may be able to trace their heritage back to that genetic change. So, that old family tale may be true to a degree, but you will still have to prove what tribe of American Indian you belong. Seeking the answer will involve a trip to your physician or optometrist and dentist. The eyes of American Indians and Blacks carry a melanin (pigmentation) peculiar to them. This is on the back of the eye on the retina. Using his light, your optomertrist/physician/ophthalmologist can determine if the melanin is present. Your dentist can tell you if you do or do not have a Carrabelli cusp on the maxillary first molar. The cusp is present on those of strictly western European origin, but missing on those of Asian or American Indian heritage. 1. [YOUNGBLOOD-L] Re: Lucy YOUNGBLOOD
    2. Frances, There are at least two possibilities (probably more). 1. The census could be in error. However, if she's born in 1844, then she would be 16 years of age in the 1860 census; her mother would have been 21 when she gave birth. Certainly no problem there. 2. Tombstone could be wrong? The whole family could be wrong? I doubt this. 3. She could be an "unknown" descendant. However, after looking at all the descendants from the Y males, I don't see how it is possible (pregnancies would be too close). It's more likely, that unless you discover an error in the dates you have, the census is incorrect. Certainly wouldn't be a first! Regards, Cousin Joyce

    3. YOUNGBLOOD RESEARCHERS: My brick wall is to find parentage for AMOS CARIL YOUNGBLOOD. Amos came to the Western Kentucky area (Calloway Co, KY) in the 1820's. About 1/2 of his children moved to Lafayette Co, MS; about 1/2 remained in Western Kentucky. There are 2 Youngbloods in 1800's Western Kentucky (Graves Co, KY) that I cannot fit into Amos Caril Youngblood's line, so it may be helpful to determine their ancestry on the theory that they were distantly related. A few of the descendants of William Youngblood lived in our area. I am pasting his info below. If anyone could definitely establish his parentage, it might help me find the parents of Amos Caril Youngblood. Because I am unable to prove the link from Amos to John, we no longer claim heritage from Thomas. By working with researchers who are interested in the above 2 lines of Younglboods, I hope to be able to place our our Amos!! Wayne B Youngblood Mayfield, KY youngblood@apex.net

    3. Hi Marjorie, I thought I had written you some time ago, but can't find it right now. The information you're looking for on Josiah's siblings, parents, etc. is in my Jeremiah Youngblood book and available at the library in Waynesboro, there near you. You can probably get it thru interlibrary loan, too. Sorry I haven't answered sooner, but one of your earlier postings indicated you had this. (I think I told you that the assumption of our old James being the son of John Miles Youngblood was incorrect). Let me know how you make out - 'kay? Dorothy

    2. Hi, thought I would throw my 2 cents in again. I am still looking for relatives of Margret Youngblood who married William Wilson (both supposed to be Cherokee) from the old Cherokee Nation (Georgia). I know they had at least l son (Robert) who ended up in Clarksville, AR. He married Mary Horton (Whorton) and they had 8 or 9 children. My GGramother was Mary Wilson, Who married Henry Thomason, who later moved to Oklahoma. COME ON. I know there has to be some Wilsons out there who are my relatives. Call me. Joe
